George’s Medical Fund

$5,405 of $10,000 goal

Raised by 79 people in 1 month
As many of you may know, George was involved in a low speed collision which then resulted in him going into cardiac arrest on Monday, March 25. He was flown flight for life from Steamboat Springs to Loveland, Colorado where he is currently in an induced coma in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies.

George had emergency surgery to replace a stint in his arteries from a previous heart attack 11 years ago when he arrived at the UCHealth. Due to the time he was out before being revived, his brain, lungs and kidneys are of concern.

So far, we have seen him respond to commands and try to move around which is a great sign regarding his brain. He is not able to get the ventilator removed until  his lungs are cleared of the aspiratory pneumonia(infection of the lungs most likely caused during the time cpr and resuscitation occurred). The biggest concern as of right now is his kidneys are failing.

All three of his children live either out of town or out of state, but are working together to create a plan of action in regards to future health care, medical expenses and general expenses as a whole. We are hoping to set up this account to help alleviate the financial stress that comes along with medical emergencies so the family can focus on taking care of George.

We have attached an article from the local newspaper sharing in more detail what happened. Thank you for your time and thanks in advance for all the well wishes, prayers and donations.

George is going into surgery here shorty to get a pace maker put in! He found out about the funds raised(we held off on telling him knowing how grumpy he gets when people help him lol) but he said he wasn’t sure how he’d be able to thank each and every one of you! So, I know I’ve said it and I’ll continue to do so- thank you so, so much!

Wow! The generosity is amazing. Thank you all so much! Just wanted to share that dad is up and walking. He got to shower yesterday. He started eating, talking our ears off and has been able to laugh! He’s still got a lot to overcome before he gets to go home, but if he keeps up the great progress I’m hoping it’ll be sooner than later.

Hey all! The best news! He is AWAKE! They just removed the breathing tube. He is communicating by writing. He first asked what happened. Then asked about the kids on the bus and the others involved in the accident! He loves those kiddos! ❤️

Today, George has continued to respond to commands and has been able to calm himself down after being agitated. This allowed them to keep him at a lower level sedation *all day!*. This is great. The ventilator will remain in place for at least another day or two. His body is slowly doing what it needs to heal the kidneys!! His heart was trying to fail him starting in the afternoon, but so far he’s been able to tackle each challenge today on his “own”. I’ll continue to post updates as I am able. Thank you for your support.
