Maria’s Fight With Idiopathic Subglottic Stenosis

Donation protected
This time last year I was pregnant with my first child, my mum Maria’s first grandchild and was away on holidays when I got the phone call saying ‘your mum needs emergency surgery, she has a problem with her throat and can’t breath’. My mum Maria found out she had Idiopathic Subglottic Stenosis; a condition where an inflammatory process causes progressive narrowing of the airway to the point of not being able to breath. Since then she has had 2 surgeries and a 3rd one due just this year to keep her airway open enough to breath. We went in for her regular check up just the other day and the surgeon said it’s become very aggressive and grown back at a faster rate of 70% you will need another surgery, seeing the look in my mums eyes just broke my heart. Can’t the surgery wait until after Christmas she said, and the doctor replied no you won’t last that long without surgery. That’s when it hit me that my mum needs help, she needs to go see a specialist down south or overseas that specialises in Idiopathic Subglottic Stenosis. She needs help to fight this life long condition, and to be able to see her first grandson grow up. I’ve started this fund unbeknown to her, in hopes that I can raise enough money to send her to see the specialist she desperately needs to see and to help take away her financial burden at this time. Any help could greatly change our families life. Please help me give back to the women who has sacrificed so much for me. Thank you all xx
