Tulsa OK, Animal Storm Victims

Donation protected
Blake Austin and I saw a post on Sunday 5/26 about 2 dogs taking cover under the ocean dental bus at 31st and Garnett in the Walmart parking lot. The larger dog was protecting the smaller dog who was very sick and several people had attempted to help but were chased off. Passerby's were starting to be cruel to him because of his behavior and every rescue is bursting at the seams with all of the tornado and flood victims so we responded since nobody else did. I didn't expect the dogs to still be there 4 days later, but sure enough, they were. Big dog who we are calling Gunner was not threatened by me and came right to us for pets and food until I got a slip lead on him. He was not impressed, but with 2 people and 2 leashes, we were able to get him into the car without a bite and watch in horror as his little friend ran right across Garnett during rush hour traffic . After a few attempts and help from the folks at the gas station, we lost the little one (who we are calling Teddy) 45 mins later, more storms were rolling in and we had to go, so we headed home with a very stressed and very upset Gunner. After a bath and baby oil to remove tar from his coat, he was extremely shut down and fearful and we knew we had to find his buddy. So at 1030pm... against our better judgement, we took the big guy on 2 leashes back to the parking lot that was finally quiet and dark and let him out...sure enough here comes running a little Pomeranian right up to Gunner who lit up light a Christmas tree. We coaxed Gunner back into the car, and his friend followed :) we took them both to the ER to be scanned for microchips (none) and have the little fella seen by a vet because of a green phlegm he was coughing up. He had a fever and diarrhea and we found out he is actually a senior dog. he has a collapsing trachea and upper respiratory infection, a double ear infection and he is super dirty and sticky but otherwise ok. He got meds and his best friend and they got to happily be wrapped up in blankets together and dry out of these storms. I felt pretty confident that these dogs had an owner somewhere . They are extremely bonded. However, Neither are neutered and both are middle aged to senior and its been a few days with no flyers or phone calls of this missing pair. If you know where they belong, or you are their owners we would be content with fostering them until you're on your feet and will even help get them neutered and returned if they can stay together. I know a lot of people have been displaced by the Tornados, floods, and major storms recently and it's possible these dogs may have been dumped for their own safety or got loose from a downed fence. I'm not here to pass judgement, I just wanted them safe.  We will not take these dogs to the pound as I was informed they will be separated and both are contagious and would be at risk to be euthanized. I've reached out to several rescues who are full, understandably. We fortunately had a lot of help from our community in their capture and are thankful for that. I covered the $375 vet bill out of pocket and I don't expect anyone else to take on that bill as it was my choice, but some help would be greatly appreciated. Teddy still needs to be treated for his very infected ears, that will probably be another $200 vet bill on top of both being fed, housed, neutered ($45 ea), vaccinations ($45 ea) etc...but we absolutely have a need for towels, blankets, bedding, food etc. These 2 are quarantined from our own dogs due to the URI and no idea on vaccination history so it will be tricky shuffling for the time being. Thank you all so much for caring about the dogs. GUNNER & TEDDY appreciate full bellies and warm beds. You can call the vet to confirm we were there (918-665-0508) However the bill went onto a credit card so donations of monetary value cannot be made directly to them. We have a Venmo account as well and will provide all documentation. Teddy will be getting shaved down to let his skin breathe and heal from the PELT of fur he is wearing. We did everything we could to try to save his coat, but he was not happy about being groomed and we didn't want to push him as it would have taken hours to brush through the very badly matted coat. We will post updated pictures of the fella once he's feeling a little better. Thank you all for your help and support.
