Bennington County Sheriff's K-9

Donation protected
The Bennington County Sheriff’s office is looking to raise $25,000 for the purchase of a police dog, training for our Deputy and the equipment needed for a service dog.

Over the last few years we can all agree that there is a huge drug problem in Bennington County. This drug problem is driving our crime rate higher by the day. In Bennington County there is only one Drug K-9 unit for the entire county and he only works 5 days a week. With the addition of a second dog in the county we will be able to reduce the need for off duty call outs and to speed the response of a K-9 when needed.

The type of dog that we are looking to purchase is one that will be able to do narcotic detection and tracking.

The following are few facts to help you understand the need Bennington County has had more drug overdoses in the last year than Rensselaer County and Washington County New York.

Bennington County has 17 towns and 675 square miles and is bordered by New York, Massachusetts, and is in close proximity to the New Hampshire border it has 14 blacktop highways that pass though the county.

On June 15th though June 17th2015 The Bennington County Sheriff’s Office was the host of The Desert Snow 24 Hour hands on drug interdiction class that was open to law enforcement officers from all over the surrounding states. The Bennington County Sheriff’ Office has sent deputies all over the United States for the best drug interdiction training available.

Sometime in June or July 2016 The Bennington County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a 420 Criminal Interdiction class and that will be open to law enforcement from all of the surrounding states.

We at the Bennington County Sheriff’s Office feel that we are doing our part in trying to rid the community of drugs and with the addition of a second dog in the county it would help a great deal with assisting officers throughout the county of Benninngton to apprehend drug dealers, drugs, and or transporters of drugs and assist in keeping our streets cleaner and safer for the community now and in the future.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you in advance for the donation and we look forward to serving you in the future.  If your unable to make the fundraiser and would like to donate you can mail your donation to Bennington County Sheriff’s Office   P.O. Box 4207 Bennington VT. 05201  or stop by the office at 811 VT RTE 7 South.

On 04/01/2016 at the Bennington Elks Club located on Washington Ave the Bennington County Sheriff’s office will be hosting a fundraiser dinner and will have a wide variety of items to auction  off. The dinner will be $35.00 per plate. Dinner will consist of your choice of prime rib or baked stuffed chicken breast and baked potatoes, vegetable and a side salad.  Jonathan Goldsmith AKA the most interesting man in the world will be there to provide entertainment and give out autographs.
