On October 31st, 2018, the Masons received some heartbreaking news that their oldest, Dot (6 years old), was diagnosed with leukemia. Of the two primary types of leukemia, Dot was diagnosed with T-Cell ALL, which requires the most aggressive and expensive treatment because it is the most difficult to treat.  The course of treatment is two and a half years.

A conservative estimate of what the Masons will spend out of pocket for Dot's treatment over the next few months is totaling more than $11,000, not including medications. This amount will increase depending what insurance will cover as well other variables we discover as Dot's treatment "road map" evolves. Aside from the treatment itself, additional costs are anticipated - from fuel for the many hospital visits (45 miles, one way) to flights (for family coming to help with little sister, Kat, age 3), to special foods, and more. Dealing with the diagnosis is challenging enough without having to worry about the expenses of her care. Please help us ease this burden so the family can focus on working with the doctors and taking care of sweet Dot and themselves.

Any amount you can contribute will be greatly appreciated and will be put to use immediately. Feel free to share this campaign with other friends and family who may be interested in donating.

The family would like to note that while your loving donations are extremely valued, the greatest need is your continued and ongoing prayer. We can accomplish much together, but none us of can do what He can do.

Yesterday was Dot's Ride, the bike riding fundraiser for the Masons, and the good people of Las Cruces came together to create an amazing event. Dot's ANC levels were high enough that she had clearance from her doctors to attend! Some folks who were unable to make it have donated via this GoFundMe as well as the Gravelero account, and the proceeds appear to be hovering around $4,000, but that may not yet be factoring in t-shirt sales or other cash gifts. Incredible! Meanwhile, you've helped us surpass the halfway point to our goal for this fundraiser - it's a great weekend! This is a big boost for the family and will help ease the difficulty of the near daily drives to El Paso for Dot's treatment. Check out pictures from the event and share Dot's smile - you helped make it happen. Eternal thanks to all who have given time, money, energy or any other resource. Let's keep the love and support coming for this great little family.

Happy new year, everyone! These days, post holiday bliss, provide a great time to reflect and count our blessings. We are thankful that Dot continues to make progress - she is dancing, playing and running. These are activities she used to avoid due to pain before her treatment started, so we are grateful to see her get to play and be a kid!

We are moved by the continued support of Ottumwa, Iowa residents who are buying "Team Dot" shirts with all proceeds going to the Masons. And, we are grateful for the folks behind Dot's Ride in Las Cruces - part community bike ride, part fundraiser coming up in February: https://www.facebook.com/events/664198413976557/

The Masons mentioned recently that due to the government shutdown, Annie's pay as a federal employee is in somewhat of an unknown status after her January 25th check. These donations, whether they are used immediately as income replacement or as a peace of mind safety net, provide such relief. We are so thankful for them - and for you. Will you give $5 - $10 today or share the campaign? <3

Hello, everyone! Our entire family has been celebrating the recent news that Dot has achieved remission! So much progress has been made in the treatment of childhood leukemia in the last 50 years. Today, because El Paso Children’s Hospital is part of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), Dot is receiving the same treatment she would receive if she were at Mayo or Saint Jude or Johns Hopkins or Dana Farber. Donations from people like you help make her life saving treatment possible. Thanks to all who have given! We spend special thanks today to the generous people of Ottumwa, Iowa who recently sent $900 outside of this campaign to the Masons. What a blessing!

It's important to say that even though Dot is responding well to treatment and is in remission, this doesn't mean she's cured. There is still a long, expensive road ahead. She must still complete the 2.5 year course of treatment. Please help us continue the momentum of this campaign by giving or spreading the word. Every dollar matters. We're almost halfway to our goal - will you help us achieve that milestone for the Masons?

We send our love and gratitude,
Immediate family of the Masons

Because of you and those with whom you've shared Dot's story, we are more than a third of the way to our goal and not even two weeks has passed! Our entire family is beyond humbled and thankful as blessings to the Masons just keep coming. Thanks to Diesel Enterprises in Las Cruces for pledging $300 and to Philip and Penny Simpson for sending $500! Rene Oz gave $250 and Hayley MacDonald gave $300! Every donation matters and we know, especially this time of year, that there are endless ways for you to spend your extra dollars. Thank you for choosing to lift up this family! Outside of Go Fund Me, the wonderful teachers of Liberty Elementary in Iowa just donated $300 from their "Jean Day" fundraiser and the Masons received $200 from a generous and loving family in Las Cruces. Outside donations total $1200 now - an incredible, unbelievable gift. Also, not a day goes by that the Masons don't receive encouraging calls and texts, visits, meals, and gifts for both girls. The family has a difficult road ahead as Dot enters the second phase of treatment, but it's comforting to know that they are held close by so many and are surrounded by so much relentless love, kindness, thoughtfulness and prayer. In the spirit of the giving season, we ask you to spread the word if you haven't already to help the Masons move closer toward financial stability as they embark on some of the most challenging parts of Dot's care. We are deeply grateful and thankful for each and every one of you!
