David Gal: Australian Lacrosse Team

If you don't know already, I made the Australian Lacrosse Team (Yeaaaah). For the team each player is needed to do fundraising for the team as well as themselves individually. The guys from Victoria are doing a function night as well as a Rubber Duck Race. I have never heard of a duck race, and in case you have not either, a 1,000 rubber ducks with number on the bottom of them are dropped in the ocean and the current brings them to the shore and the first duck to the shore wins. It is going to be a big night with bouncy castle, face paintings, games, cricket and a lot more.
1st - $1,000
2nd - $500
3rd - $300

The race is on 16th of February.

Another fundraiser that all players are doing is having his own function night. At these function nights (I have been told, my first one too) is people get donations from family and friends. People give anywhere from bottles of winr, vacation house weekends, clothes, etc. I have contacted many people for american lacrosse apparel (very popular with the kids over here) and something I have advantage to that others on the team don't.

If you have anything you think would help with my auction night, want to buy a duck, or just donate those would all be greatly appreciated.
if you wish to purchase a duck just saw so on the comment and I will add your contact information to the ticket stub.

If you want to know more about my experience out here, lacrosse, the national team, or anything else feel free to email me: davegal13@gmail.com.

here is the teams facebook page:

thanks in advance

The last one:
After 72 hours of travel finally made it back to Melb. yesterday morning. That is right 3 days, because of 2 sets of flights needed to be organized including a 20 hr layover in LAX.

The lacrosse in LA and Vail was great with even more amazing views. As for the world games Team Oz finished 4th in the world behind Canada, USA, and the Iroquois Nationals. I was let go of the team right before the worlds which was a disappointment, but had the family up so made the best of it. Have not had the entire family together for years.

After Denver with the family I took a couple days in Vegas with some of the guys from the team, team members family, and friends. I must say that the hangover movie is definitely possibility in Vegas with the right group of people.

Then it was home. Great to see family and friends. Would have loved to see more people but just did not work out. Nothing more can really be said about being home... bliss.

A few big chapters are coming to a close: lacrosse world championships and masters program. Very excited for what is next. Not really sure what that is or where it will take me, but excited for it.

To everyone that has helped me out with these last 2 chapters, words can not express my gratitude for every little thing people have done. From donations, just a chat online, checking in, sending regards to my parents, actually seeing me, or knowing your just there... can not say thank you enough.

Finally packed and off to the airport. One big last thank you to everyone that has helped. Did not imagine all the support i have gotten, and it is greatly appreciated. Very exciting and hoping for the best as the journey is coming to its end. Hope to see as much family and friends after this, and some final relaxation.

thanks again

Leaving in 10 days.

Very excited to get out of Melbourne, play the games, and see some family and friends. Been a long 2 year process with the last 6 months a huge overdrive with training and gym and everything culminating for a 10 day tournament is exciting. Also getting a chance to leave Melbourne and play is a huge bonus; I have not had a lot of time to leave, travel, or vacation.

This weekend is the last personal fundraiser (a trivia night at my own lacrosse club), and then have our blazer presentation with the entire team before we fly out.

sorry about being slack on this... Been very busy the last month with training and school. Had my last exam for this semester on monday and getting all the forms together for the team has taken up lots of time.

Thank you for all the support so far, every little bit has helped and greatly appreciate. All the support I have gotten locally and back home. Been a crazy, difficult, and amazing journey that has had plenty of peaks and valleys. Starting this journey on my own and getting the support as it has progressed has helped immensely.

Thanks again hope to see as many people as i can in 2 weeks time.

3 year anniversary for being in Australia. Still miss family and friends back home every day. There have been many really good times and lots of some not so memorable times out here; not to mention the difficulties of keeping up with people back home. In saying that I never expected to be out here this long and that would have not been possible without the people i have surrounded myself with and the people i have met over the journey to share the great times and help me through the rough ones. I never really expected it to last this long but been an amazing time and can't wait to see what the future has in store for me out here.
