Hurst's Spine Surgery
Donation protected
On 11/6 our pup was his normal, excited, playful self. On 11/7 we woke up to see that he could barely move his body without visible pain. My husband and I took him to the Emergency Clinic to discover that he had a severe strain of the lumbar and was in extreme pain. We left with an injection, pain killers and inflammatory medication. On 11/8 Hurst progressively got worse and the medication was still having no effect. We took him to his regular veterinarian and was informed that he had Invertebral Disc Disease and a ruptured disc was pinching at his spine. His new medication that we purchased from the vet also had no effect on him. He was shrieking in pain and eventually lost all functioning of his hind legs due to paralysis. Because his spine is pinched, his brain is not able to send signals past the ruptured disc to his back legs. He now has no feeling in his legs. After realizing he was completely paralyzed, our Vet told us we needed to take him to Louisville, KY if there was any chance at saving him. Our options came down to Euthanizing or paying $6,000 for a CT scan and emergency spinal surgery. With him being only 5 years old and the best dog ever, we decided that euthanizing would be our last option only if we could not get the funds together. After receiving a phone call from my husband in tears, I now type this GoFundMe story from the emergency room. Thankfully, my husband's father has offered to donate a generous amount to keep Hurst around, but we got talked into starting this account by a dozen of our friends. We've sold a motorcycle so far that will also go towards saving the pup. Thank you in advance to all of the beautiful people who will help save our pup through here, we will never be able to thank you enough.
