Study Abroad in Australia

Donation protected
A few years ago, I was working full time making beautiful and delicious desserts. Unfortunately, this career that brought so much joy also brought carpal tunnel syndrome in my hands. As I researched ways to treat what was happening, I found a whole new passion for helping the body heal itself. After several years of juggling school and work, I am nearly finished with a Bachelor's of Science degree. I will then continue on to receive a Doctorate of Physical Therapy.  On my current track I will be just 4 credits shy of my BS, and then I was presented with this amazing opportunity to study abroad for those credits.

Studying abroad is more than just taking a trip somewhere. It is a chance to experience a culture different than my own. An important part of expanding development is to break past the limitations of our physical location, and explore the ways in which we can see things differently. By spending time in another culture, we can open our minds. In my future career I plan to work with people in rehabilitation. If I can approach their problems from a place of compassion and understanding, then I will more easily adapt to their needs and their success of recovery will be improved. Spending time abroad will help me recognize my own culture influences, and strengthen the connections of a global community.

It has always been a dream of mine to study abroad, but I've never been able to muster the funds. This time I decided to face my fear of asking others for money and reach out to my community for help. A teacher of mine is taking a group of students to Australia for 3 weeks!

"Australia is a magical place and it is a once in a lifetime kind of opportunity to see platypus playing in the wild, cockatoos in flocks, kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, an absolutely incredible array of wildlife. I have traveled far and wide and, for me, Australia beats the Galapagos Islands by miles." - Ed Degrauw, Instructor

In our current political climate, I think it is more important than ever to encourage a global community. A donation is more than just a chance to make this girl's dream come true. This is an opportunity to support women in science, wildlife education/conservation, and intercontinental communication. I am incredibly grateful to you just for taking the time to hear my story. I hope you feel moved to support me in any way you can.

The course is likely to fill up, so I am hoping to make the initial deposit by the end of the year!

Thank you again, and I wish you all the best.
