The Stairwell Project

$4,849 of $10,000 goal

Created October 17, 2018
The Stairwell Project is a unique program of live music provided by professional musicians in the open public spaces and Oncology wards of the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

Started in 2015 by Jugglers Art Space Inc co-founder & Director Peter Breen, the Stairwell Project’s musicians have endeared themselves to hundreds of people and added a new uplifting element through their music to the tough clinical environment of this large city teaching hospital.

The team of musicians are all professionals with the majority of them graduates of the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.

As we work to develop the next phase of this project with the RBWH over the next 5 years, we are appealing to those who have been touched by this program and those who understand the impact of music on recovery to work with us on donation strategies and plain hard cold cash to keep this innovative program alive and thriving.

Many thanks.

Peter Breen/Curator.

Now that RBWH subsidised car - parking has been removed, the cost of car parking for harpists and key- board players is $84/week. With our focus on award rates for musicians, we have decided that we will ask you to work with us to allocate all of our funds for the musicians and to find the parking fees. So our goal for $1000 for May will give us 12 weeks of car parking fees. In three days we have had $170! Thank you! Can you spread the news?

Last Thursday at RBWH we linked up with their Media Unit to document what we do in the Oncology Department. As part of that we were able to access the day treatment ward [ Level 4 Joyce Tweddell Building] and ward 6ASouth [ Ned Hanlon Building]. The joy was palpable for everyone! Thanks to Ian Ahles [Classical Guitar] and Maddi Goodwin [Flute] and Bart Seaton-Said [Harp]. Spread the word! Peter Breen - Curator.
