Please help Sen with vet expenses due to her eye. Sen lives at Zen Rabbit Rescue as one of the sanctuary kids and is one my best friends. She is 10 years old and came to me from a call for help with 8 other rabbits in need, I took them all in. Sen quickly pushed her way into my main living area and has been there ever since...she is super sweet-her main living area is my bathroom and when I take a bath,I lean over the tub, she stands up and gives me a kiss. When I am very sick and "praying to the porcelain gods" Sen sits right beside, or thinks it is a game and tries to look into to toilet bowl with me...silly bunny!
On January 4th I noticed Sen's eye had some gunk on it, so I washed her face, I didn't notice anything at the time. The next day though there was a white film over half of her right eye. Of course it was the weekend.
We took her in to our regular vet on January 7th Although we don't know what caused this we put her on eye drops 4 times a day-went back for a recheck on the 10th, we added doing warm compresses to the eye drops. Today January 15th, her eye is worse. There is a high likelihood we need to see a specialist and she will need surgery.
Our super vet has taken photos of the eye(it is really bad if you lift up her lid) and posted them on her medical boards trying to get some insights...no information as of yet. I am hopeful someone will come back with a quick fix.
My rescue is beyond low on funds (last year we spent over $1900 and took in about $400) so, I am asking/begging for help for Sen.
I will show you some photos of her at the vet, and not gross photos of the eye.
So far the bills have been: $75.50, $40.50 and today $177.50 I did get help on the first two a portion of them was reimbursed. But, that leaves me huge looming bills...my thought is she may lose the eye-the infection is dangerous so close to her brain. I want it out of there if it will save her life. We have another appointment Jan 21st 2014 and if things have not improved we must go to the specialists. This is where the big bills will start.
