"Oscar the Service Dog" Needs Help

Donation protected

During this past week, I have been deeply saddened to learn my dear friends service dog has been diagnosed with lymphoma. Her service dog Oscar, was welcomed into her family just under 4 years ago to assist with her autistic son.  The family has had many obstacles to overcome in the past 10 years including her having amputation of her fingers and toes resulting from an illness in 2010. You see, my friend cannot run due to the amputations but her son loves to run.. in the opposite direction. Oscar is trained to keep her son safe in public and from bolting by a harness attached to him. His presence is also a grounding comfort in times of stress and has allowed for much easier transitions at home and in the community.  Oscar even attended school with her son for the past 2 years and was set to start at a new school this fall for junior high up until they received the heartbreaking news. Since Oscar has been a part of her family, I have witnessed the whole family conquer all obstacles and the power of healing with the love from this dog. Oscar is my hero and her sons best friend. The family is devastated at the thought of life without Oscar.  At this time, they are still waiting for the results to determine which type of Lymphoma they are dealing with and best treatment options.  Regardless of the type, I am just asking for donations to help alleviate some of the financial burden of the vet bills and to keep them out of financial crisis.
Any funds raised and not required will be donated to Dogs with Wings.
