House Fire Recovery Fund

Hi everyone! Today is 11/29/2017 and my family and I are just now washing the soot off of our tired bodies. We lost our family home today, a relatively new purchase that my moms live in. My younger sister and I (thankfully) do not live here and suffered minimal losses comparatively.  My moms, however, lost everything. 

My mom (birth) used to be a teacher at the local high school. She is compassionate and energetic and fierce. My mom (step) spent the majority of her adult life as a camp director at NaCoMe and recently became an EMT.  Their home was earthy and welcoming, full of our own art and creations. We had six cats and three dogs. We buried four of our cats today. 

The house is completely gone, there are less than 50 items that were remotely salvagable. None of these items included clothes, furniture, electronics, or toiletries. We need so much to recreate our happy home, but since the house was recently purchased, more than 2/3 of the money will go directly to the mortgage company. We will continue to owe money on the property despite not being able to inhabit the property. We do not have enough to get by, let alone to rebuild. 

With the holidays so close, we certainly appreciate that budgets are tight. But if you are in a position to give, these are the people that deserve it and who, now, desperately need it. Please contribute what you can, anything is appreciated.
