Charity Project In Borneo!

Donation protected
Hey, I'm Libby, and I'm determined to use my upcoming gap year to do good things; and I've been presented with the opportunity to do just that! World Challenge is an organisation that allows students like me to travel to the other side of the world for a whole four weeks, in which time we'll be taking part in community projects and getting hands on in our efforts to help people. On top of that, it'll be a great opportunity to learn about culture, new places and lifestyles, and we'll hopefully have a wonderful time before parting ways and heading off to university. I would be, anyway, if it wasn't for the massive £4000 fee, and the fact I have even less time to raise it than anyone else because it took me so long to pluck up the courage to sign up. I've never been particularly well-off. I earn some money from my paintings which I am very, very grateful for and, though I am by no means disregarding my privilege in life, I cannot possibly pay that fee by myself. The World Challenge website suggests some fundraising ideas, but unfortunately I don't think I'd earn much attempting "magic tricks at weddings". However, what I lack in wizardry, I make up for in determination, a desire to do good, and quite frankly a desperation to go to Borneo.I am by no means the worthiest of causes. I have a house, and family, and support. I would love to turn these privileges into an opportunity to help as many people as I can and make a positive difference. Every little helps has been my attitude towards money since I can remember and now more than ever, I would be so grateful for what little you can give. I'm daunted by how much £4000 actually is. But I'm proud that I signed up and I'm not gonna spend my last summer holiday before university in a slump. I am so determined to honour the decision I made by saying "yes", and consequently ignoring all of the doubts and anxieties that have made me say "no" too many times before. Please - if you have any money to spare, be it enough for your morning coffee or what spare you can afford, please give what you can. I'm trying to earn in other ways, too, but every little helps.
