Our niece Mallorie and her husband Andy were thrilled when they found out they were expecting their third child. Their daughters Adelyn (5) and Nora (2) were so excited to find out they were getting a baby brother.
Andy and Mallorie are both teachers at Pleasant Valley School District in Bettendorf, IA and live in Geneseo, IL.
After some concerns on a ultrasound, they were referred to the University of Iowa where they were told their baby boy, Bennett John, has trisomy 18 which is a life-limiting chromosomal disorder. Most babies with this disorder do not make it to birth alive and those that do face a lifetime of complications. Their world was turned upside down, but they never lost faith.
On November 13th, brave little Bennett made his appearance already defying the odds. He is such a little fighter and continues to impress his doctors each day. He is receiving the best care possible in the NICU until he is strong enough to come home.
Bennett has a long journey ahead and anything we can do to help this beautiful family is greatly appreciated. Andy and Mallorie would never ask for anything, but are the first to help someone in need.
Please keep sweet Bennett and this beautiful family in your thoughts and prayers. I have attached a link to Mallorie’s Caring Bridge so we can all follow their journey.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We all cannot thank you enough for your generous donations ~ Andy, Mallorie, Addie, Nora and Bennett are blessed to have such wonderful and caring people in their lives♡
Here is an update from Mallorie ♡

Bennett is definitely showing he is a fighter. He continues to be on oxygen and is mainly fed through a tube, but he is working on his bottle skills. He has been moved to a new bay in the NICU which is much more comfortable for us and means he's one step closer to going home. He has a few more obstacles to overcome before we go home and there will be lots of follow up appointments and monitoring in the future but he's already doing more than a lot of people or statistics thought he would. The support from our family, friends, and community has meant so much to us. It makes us not feel so alone in the situation and gives us encouragement and hope. Thank you
