Movie budget: Kevin & Mikey

Hey there!

If you’re reading this, you probably have a ton of questions and are a little confused as to why two RFH graduates are putting their futures on the line to produce a comedy film. I don’t blame you! If I were in your shoes, I’d probably be thinking the same.

But worry not! I am here to explain everything as simple possible, and to provide an easy way for many of you to support our dream!

Let’s start with the basics:

Our names are Kevin Anderson and Mikey Murdock. We have been buddies for over 4 years, and throughout the entire time we knew each other, we always talked about our one true dream of making a movie. For most of the time we knew each other, this remained as just a dream. We both graduated from RFH in 2017, and, like everyone else in our graduating class, began the “usual” college path of life. For a little while, this seemed like the right thing to do. Actually, scratch that. It seemed like the ONLY thing to do. So naturally, we began going through the motions of this traditional path of life, living day by day while stressing over grades and looking forward to hanging out with our friends on the weekends. Although aspects of this lifestyle were fun, we still felt empty. Like we were doing something wrong. But we couldn't figure out what.

A few months down the road, the two of us met up to catch up and share our best college stories, when it hit us. We realized that we were slowly forgetting our dream, and almost pretending like we never had dreams, just so society wouldn’t frown upon us doing something different then the norm.

When we realized this, we instantly felt ashamed in ourselves that we would let our dreams fly out the window so easily like that. Is that really the type of person we are?

And that was the tough part. That is what it really came down to. Are we going to forget about what truly, from the bottom of our heart made us happy, just so society didn’t judge us? Are we going to forget about what made us smile in the morning just so we can get a degree in something we’re not interested in?
I know it seems like an obvious answer, but at the time, doing something out of the ordinary was a scary thought. A thought almost too scary to consider a possibility. Almost.

We wanted to make it happen, but we knew that the best way to do it would be to start with baby steps.
So for the first step, we decided to stop calling this movie a “dream” and began calling it a “goal”. This was the turning point, because the only difference between a dream and a goal is that a goal needs an actionable plan. So now we knew our next baby step: draft out a plan.

So we did.

I (Kevin) applied, was accepted, and attended a film school in New York City for a rigorous one year program, where I learned an immense amount of knowledge regarding the filmmaking process. This was a massive step in making this movie come to life.

We then dedicated the next 7 months to creating the most amazing script we possibly could.
And as time continued moving on, one step kept on turning into another, and before we knew it we had everything lined up to make a KILLER FILM. Except one thing was missing. I’m sure you can guess what.

Now let’s talk about the movie itself.

It’s a thrilling comedy piecing together broken friendships, chasing a dream, and learning the reality of never getting there (ironic, right?), and a group of adolescents’ quest for an adventurous night.
I'm not going to give to much away. I’d rather that part be a surprise.

Here’s the thing. We are shooting for the moon with this. We are going all in. Everything on the line, chasing our true dream. So just let me state some facts real quick. This realistically can’t be filmed on my refurbished Iphone 8. It realistically can’t consist our friends who are garbage at acting as the main roles (don’t tell them I said that). It realistically can’t be edited with Imovie on my 2009 Macbook.

For this movie to succeed, we need real equiptment, real actors, and real production. Unfortunately there's no way around this. And that's why we need your help.

We created this GoFundMe to provide an easy way for people who support our decision of chasing our dreams to contribute in any way they can. The more money we are able to raise will not only help this movie be extremely professional, but also help determine how many film festivals and local theaters we can ship our film to so it can be seen by everyone in this community. We will be filming in Rumson and want everyone in the nearby areas to be as excited as we are as the life of cinema will make its way into our beloved hometown. Our story can be filmed with a minimum budget of 20,000 dollars. This budget will include paying our cast and crew, renting equipment, purchasing permits, etc., for a shoot time ranging from 8-20 days.

We pride ourselves on our passion and work ethic involving this project and any donations will be much appreciated to help make this into a reality.

Thank you for the love and support. The feedback we’ve gotten already at this point is what keeps us going.

Continue following your dreams. -Kevin Anderson, Mikey Murdock.
