When you get to a point in life when you’re ready to settle down and have kids nobody expect or wants it to be this difficult. Growing up all I wanted was to have kids with the love of my life but I got picked to be 1 in 8. One in eight you ask? What does this mean? Well one in eight couples struggle with some sort of infertility issue wither it’s to do with male or female we all suffer. I didn’t ever think this would be happening to me but this is my reality and this is our story.

It all started 3 years ago when things took a turn in the wrong direction. In July of 2015 we decided to get off of birth control to help my body readjust to being “normal” again but after many months of an absent period and unsuccessful attempts of conceiving I went to see a doctor. She ran some tests claimed things were normal but referred me to a obgyn for added help. We thought to ourselves perfect this is the answers we hoped for. Three months later we had our first appointment.  Working side by side with this doctor for a year in which was given pills to take and sent on our merry way ultimately was full of frustration which lead us to a reproductive specialist.

January of 2018 was our consult with our specialist, we went in sceptical of the unknown. Our doctor had us run various tests to truly determine if there was any underlying issues in which diagnosed me with pcos (poly cystic ovarian syndrome). It made sense the more I googled what it was. After everything was complete her opinion was to try iuis (intrauterine insemination) which statistically had a success rate of only 10-20% but we were willing to try anything. The first one worked, we couldn’t believe it but unfortunately resulted in a miscarriage at 5 weeks and 2 days.  We went on to do two more with failed. At this point in time we had two options, keep trying with iuis or move on to ivf (in vitro fertilization) which has a success rate of 60%. This is what we opted for. Yes it will be hard emotionally, physically, and financially but the chances are worth it.      above picture of iui June 2018

Ivf costs is up to approx.   $15 000 and sadly our benefits ran out to help cover the costs of medicine.  Finances are the number one issue for treating infertility and we don’t want it to hold us back from creating our miracle in this journey. We want to thank you for reading, donating, praying, and sending us hopeful messages along the way from the bottom of our hearts thank you.
