So many friends have wanted to help Lisa and Kristin and their four boys Kai, Jasper, Harlen & River get through this tough time, but aren't too sure how they can help.
With Kristin and Lisa’s permission I have set this page up for people who would like to donate and help to relive the financial pressure at this time so they can spend precious time with River and their other three boys.
This is baby River he is 12 weeks old and looks like he will be spending the first six months of his life in hospital. On the 7th of August 2018 he was rushed to hospital to find out he had a diaphragmatic hernia which went undiagnosed for 11 weeks. In this time, his bowel was able to move into his chest cavity, pushing on his lungs and heart. The first operation was successful and they were able to push his bowel back down, but on day 2 he deteriorated. The surgeon went back in, and found that his bowel had twisted. They untwisted it, hoping it would recover, but unfortunately it didn’t, so he bowel was removed. He wasn’t left with enough good bowel to reconnect, so they have to try to connect it again in a few weeks. Baby river has a long road ahead of him as do his family. He is currently in ICU at the Monash children’s hospital. When he gets strong enough they will be putting a centralised line into his heart so he can at least get the nutrients he needs. At this stage, his best case scenario he will be in hospital for around 6 months.
We are trying to raise money for Rivers family as mum Lisa needs to be with him and cannot go back to work for at least the next 6 months. Kristin (dad) will be looking after his whole family, Kai - 10 years old, Jasper - 5 years old & Harlen - 18 months old, whilst trying to juggle work, children, school, Lisa and of course baby River. Any amount of money is greatly appreciated, this will go towards rent, food, childcare and bills.
