My name is Jennifer and I am a full-time student, graduating May 2019, as a single mother of a 2 and 4-year-old. My 4-year-old daughter has always been in good health, but my son has not. My son was at the doctors 40 times his first year of life with infection after infection, and 11 rounds of antibiotics in 11 months. I asked the pediatrician what could be causing these issues and she told me “it just happens”. I asked if cutting dairy and gluten would help and she said absolutely not it was necessary to feed these foods.
At his 18-month checkup he had another infection and was due for his routine vaccinations. By this time, I had dove into research, of all kinds, regarding the care my son had been getting. The doctor said to do another round of antibiotics and to get his booster vaccine. I told the doctor I wanted to hold off on the vaccine until my son was healthy. Doctor said it wasn’t necessary to wait, but I could wait until his antibiotic was done in two weeks. She then stated if I did not continue his vaccines on schedule she would no longer care for my son. I ended up finding another pediatrician. Also, a naturopath, a chiropractor, and started eliminating dairy and gluten in order to try to get my son healthy.
My son’s father, however, did not agree with any of the changes nor was he addressing any concern for our son’s health. The father and I are also in a custody battle. Which started when our son was several months old, after the dad finally decided to meet his son, only after being served child support papers. I alone paid for all the extra doctor visits and supplements for our son. I also did not receive any money, diapers, clothes or food from the father. The court eventually started withholding his checks to pay child support.
The dad has hired a doctor who specializes in child abuse and medical neglect to testify in court that I am harming our son by not vaccinating, using a chiropractor, a naturopath, and taking dairy and gluten from his diet. I have reports from four other doctors stating my sons care and his improvements since change, but it is hearsay in court when there is a doctor present to testify.
I am drained of all financial sources because of attorney/court fees, doctor visits, genetic tests, supplements. I have taken out all personal loans possible. These legal fees have cost thousands. It is essential to get a doctor to come and speak for my son. I know if my son continues with the original recommended care he will suffer greatly. The one size fits all care was not working for my son, it was making him sick, and the expert he has testifying is going to testify that my son should be getting just that.
Please, help by donating for these legal fees. My goal here is to make sure that my son is able to continue on with an individualized health care plan, that is good for him. One where my son can continue to get healthy.
