MISSION STATEMENT: Bernie Bowl serves as a platform to raise funding for SFU athletes while promoting and increasing the awareness of SFU Athletics through Alumni and Community events to preserve the memory of SFU Quarterback, Bernd Dettrich.
Six years ago this Remembrance Day, we lost someone too soon.
Bernie Bowl was created in memory of SFU Quarterback Bernd Dittrich who passed away on November 11, 2009. The first annual Bernie Bowl was created in 2011 by SFU football alumnus, Mark Bailey. The event was established to honor Bernd’s memory and support SFU athletics in his name.
Donations are appreciated as we try to make this year's contribution bigger and better than ever. We set our goal high and are hoping to raise $12,000.
As its become a tradition, we will be hosting a flag football tournament at SFU's Fox Field in addition to our GoFundMe efforts. Bernie Bowl teams will play for the chance to HOIST the BERNIE BOWL!
Everyone and anyone is welcome to play, cheer on the teams and participate in the festivities and can purchase their tickets HERE. Registration is $20 per player and teams are drawn at random. This keeps teams fair and competition fun! All proceeds from the event and donations go exactly where it should... to SFU Athletics.
