Help a Family in Need

Chris, social worker for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta got connected to our own Marcus Owens of NPU-O who connected him to me (Justin Schaeffer) of Kirkwood Cares in hopes that we might help a family in need that he was working with at CHOA. Rhonda (the mother) called me today and let me know that she had just recently lost her mother, was taking in her 16yr old brother along with raising her own 16yr old, 9yr old and 7yr old. They live in an apartment in Edgewood and have fallen behind on rent and utilities due to medical expenses (hence the connection to Chris).
She needs 2 months rent before Tuesday to get caught up on rent - $466 total ($233/month)
She also needs $100 to keep the lights on until she can get caught up (she uses pre-paid billing for electricity and is about to run out). Her kids (and brother) will be starting school next week.
Rhonda also has an outstanding cell-phone bill of $280 and her cell phone is currently turned off that I didn't include in our goal. I told her we'd concentrate on the rent & utilities first, but if y'all wanna be all Kirkwood/Edgewood generous like I know you are, we can blast out her cell phone bill and then if we have any left over after that we can give her any remaining cash.

Kirkwood Cares is a committee of the Kirkwood Neighbors Organization and focuses primarily on providing critical repairs to low-income homes, so I won't be collecting the money through Kirkwood Cares. I'll be collecting money personally and paying her rent, utilities, and possibly cell phone bill directly with the money raised here and through the congregation of The People's Church. I'd be glad to provide documentation of all of the payments (including any remaining cash donation) in order to remain above board and accountable.
