5th Bob Booth Memorial Necon Fund

The Bob Booth Necon Memorial Fund has been set up for a fifth year! And it will be funded by generous people like you who want to help make Necon 38 (July 19-22, 2018) attendance possible for those who might not be able go due to financial constraints. Our dear Bob - Papa Necon - had wanted a scholarship for deserving/returning Neconners, so here it is!
Could there be a better convention than Necon? Of COURSE NOT!!! So please consider donating to help members of our Necon family make it to the convention. Every little bit helps!! And even though I've put up a $2,000 goal to create four full scholarships, more $$ will help more people who would have to stay home otherwise. So feel free to donate generously!! (Pardon my overuse of exclamation points. I can’t help it!)
Here is how works:
How to Apply: The fund is intended for Necon regulars (who have attended more than once). If you are a Necon regular who needs financial help to attend Necon 35, just send your request to Sara Calia (go to the Camp Necon website to find her e-mail address OR message her through Facebook...it isn't recommended an e-mail address be published here) along with a brief statement (500 words or less) telling why you want to attend Necon.
The Decisions: The Booth family will select the recipients. This is not first come, first served. Make sure you put in your request by midnight April 15th, 2018 as scholarship recipients will be notified by May 15th, 2018. This will allow recipients time to make travel arrangements.
NOTE! If more than enough has been raised for four full memberships, then the remaining money will be awarded to a fifth person.
NOTE part 2! If we don’t raise enough for four people to attend, then the Booths will decide best how to distribute between chosen applicants. HOWEVER, it is our hope that there will be enough to make attendance possible for four people, because we really, really want you there! Please help if you can!
This is a wonderful way for Necon folks to support one each other and make it possible for more to attend this fantastic convention. And it honors our beloved Papa Necon – Bob Booth – who founded the convention, creating the Necon family and giving us all something wonderful to look forward to each July.
(A very special thanks to Carole Whitney and Dot Godin for donating this year via last year's campaign, which kicked me into gear to get this year's going. And even though their donations aren't showing up on the donation list, we're starting with $150 thanks to them! Love you, ladies!)
