Emily's India Trip

Hello friends, family, and random strangers of the internet! First of all, I want to thank you so much for checking out this page! This trip has been a dream for a really long time and I’m really excited to be able to share this with you!
So if you don’t already know me, my name is Emily Oelger. I like music especially acoustic and jazz and having deep conversations about pretty much anything. I love hanging out with my friends and family and going to youth group.
Starting in the 6th grade, God started to put something very particular on my heart- India. It continued to come up through different classes, conversations, and sermons. Whenever anyone mentioned the word "India" I instantly became that much more interested in what was being said. I began to plan a hypothetical mission trip in my head. I would go to India someday, I hoped, and work in an orphanage.
I asked a few different people about how I would go but I didn't consistently pursue anything. "After all," I thought, "I'm too young. There's no way I can do this now." Well, a few years went by and I got a little older. Over this past summer I got to know a girl from church who has been to India 6 times (I know right?!) on a mission trip. She invited me to come along the next time she went. A few weeks ago, I heard from her and we are now on track to go at the end of December!
The trip is going to be the last week of December and the first week of January. Exact dates are tentative because we want to ensure the more opportune flight. We will be staying and working at Little Flock Children's Home which is about 45 minutes away from Chennai, India. We will help teach English as a second language to the children there, help local women with their jewelry making, lead worship and VBS, mentor the children, paint cottages, and much more.
The purpose of this trip is to learn to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. I'm ecstatic about the way Jesus has completely changed my life and I love telling anyone who will listen about his amazing grace and the hope that can be found in him. I'm really looking forward to partnering with some of my brothers and sisters in Christ and learning more about this beautiful culture.
There are a few ways you can help. Because this trip is so soon, I have three months to raise $2,600. Every donation counts! Feel free to pass the word on to your friends as well!
Secondly, my team and I would love it if you would pray for us. This is a big trip and there is a lot going into it. Please pray for protection and for God's will to be done.
