Black Women Walking Goes to Memphis
"Black Women Walking," a one-act play, uses storytelling, music, multimedia, and dance to venture back in time and meet great historic figures like Sojourner Truth, Marian Anderson, Fannie Lou Hamer and other Black heroines of history. Experience the courage, character, and brilliance of women who sought freedom, justice, and equality.
"Black Women Walking " has been accepted to perform for the Women's Theatre Festival of Memphis "Celebrating Women in Theatre", which will be held July 10-16, 2016 at the Hattiloo Theatre in Memphis, TN. Your donation will benefit travel expenses to the Women's Theatre Festival of Memphis.
As a result of our performances in May and through other outreach efforts we have successfully raised just over half of the funds necessary to travel to Memphis in July. As a group we have worked to bring travel expenses to the lowest common denominator and we are still short of our goal.
Please help us reach a larger audience, a diverse audience, as this play has much to say and much to share about the sometimes quite lives of those who walked the walk and talked the talk. Theirs is a story that needs to be told.
Thank you so much for your consideration,
Black Women Walking
