Matthew Torres Recovery Fund

For the majority of September, Matt experienced shoulder pain that progressed and eventually affected his daily life. After a couple of doctors visits, he was diagnosed with syringomyelia, which is basically a buildup of fluid on the spinal cord. It was suggested that he undergo a simple surgical procedure, scheduled for Thursday, October 15, in which a shunt is placed in the spine to drain the excess fluid. However, Matt did not react well to the shunt placed in his spine. After only a short while in the recovery room, he was taken back into the operating room to remove the shunt. After over six hours in the OR, Matt was placed into ICU where he remained for four days. In ICU, he had very limited feeling and mobility in his legs. His arms were very weak and he had very little grip. Since then, Matt has regained some feeling in his legs, some strength in his arms, and has even moved his legs on his own! Matthew will be in a rehab facility for an estimated 3 to 4 weeks while he recovers. His road to recovery will be long and tough, but with a little love and support, this experience can be less of a struggle on Matthew and his family. Every little bit will help with Matt's medical expenses. Thank you for all of your kind prayers and support.

Thumbs up and a smile!
