I first visited this school a few years ago as part of a medical mission. I continued going every year until our group disbanded, which was a very sad day for me. I like for everyone to know that this school is the real deal. They not only supply the children they serve with a quality education, but also teach them about Christ and how to live their lives as good Christian people with love and compassion for those in their communities. The Missionary and founder of this school is also a real deal. He is the true definition of what it means to be a missionary. For your see, Peru is not just his mission field it is his home. His is not just a guest in this country his is a integrated part of this community. He has an amazing story about his life and how he came to Peru to serve God, but he is to modest and humble to proclaim it and I am sure that is because he doesn't want the focus on him but, on those who need help so desperately.
Every time I have gone to Peru to help I have always taken lots of pictures of the school, the children, and the surrounding areas. When I have shown my pictures to some friends and family some comment that it looks like the kids are not in need since they are all look well nourished and healthy. However, they fail to recognize that the children appear well nourished because the school provides them with 1-2 nourishing meals a day. The children outside the walls of this school in the communities tell a different story of severe poverty and malnourishment. This is proof that the school is very successful in providing not only education,but a more healthy life.
The great thing about this fund is that the money you donate actually goes to the children and not into the pockets of fund administrators. I know this first hand, because I have been there and witnessed all the good they do. I myself have been supporting a child there with his school tuition. I have met his parents and my child many times. It is amazing to see the gratitude in their eyes knowing that their child is being given hope for a secure future and hopefully one day will be touched in his adult life to serve the people in his community. That is a hope that; these children will be able to get the education they need so that they can sustain their society without donations or global government programs to fix their economic issues on a local level.
The great need right now is with teachers salaries. The Peruvian government requires that employees are paid double their salary two months out of the year. This puts a heavy strain on the school and teachers who have to wait until enough money is raised in order to get paid. Some can't afford to wait so will eventually leave the school. The kids need their teachers. I would love to be able to raise enough money so that the school could have a fund to pay this additional salary. This way the teachers can be paid on time and then that would give time to raise additional funds to replenish the fund with future donations. The second greatest need is for child sponsorships. At present there are 20 students that need immediate funding for the new school year which starts in January. Please help these kids and prevent them from returning to the poor Peruvian educational system. Then there are always needs for additional funds to pay for the children to have 2 constant nourishing meals a day. There are also some school repair needs.
Please help with whatever you can. Peruvian people are very beautiful people. Are very proud people and want to be able to take care of themselves and provide a future for their children. Isn't that something we all want in our own personal lives. Donations to this group will make a huge difference in this little part of the world.
