Kerala Flood Relief

Be part of a change in the World.

As many of you may know, in August 2018, there was a hazardous amount of flooding in the south Indian state of Kerala.  This natural disaster took place due to heavy rainfall during the monsoon season.

Kerala has not witnessed such an event in over a century. Numerous people have been impacted by this.  Over 300,000 people have been evacuated, 445 people have lost their lives, nearly 15 people are missing. Relief camps are set up and are aiding numerous people impacted by the natural disaster.

People were evacuated mainly from Chengannur, Pandanad, Aranmula, Aluva, Chalakudy, Kuttanad and Pandalam.

Although the situation is being monitored by the Prime Minister of India and the National Crisis Management Committee coordinating the rescue and relief operations, people are still in need of help.

While the water levels in the flooding have started to lessen, rebuilding the State of Kerala could take years.  Donations that are made will assist in rebuilding the houses for those who lost them and rebuilding a primary health center.  Although this can be a scale of rebuilding which will require billions of dollars, a little goes a long way and any help will be greatly appreciated.

The donations made to this campaign are going to the Echo Charity Group, who have a mission statement of Building a Harmonious Relationship.  Echo has envisioned a Project to Build houses for those who lost it or Rebuild a Primary Health Center.  The Echo Charity is also hosting a Kerala Flood Relief Fund Raising Dinner at Cotillion Restaurant, 440 Jericho Turnpike, Jericho, NY 11753 on September 9th, 2018 at 5 pm.  The event is a way to raise funds to help those in need and also to raise awareness to the hazardous amount of flooding in the south Indian state of Kerala, that has changed the lives of many people in such a short span of time.

Again, your help will be greatly appreciated.

Other ways to help and donate are through the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund, Via e-commerce, Relief groups, and Local collection centers.
