May 3, 2018 me, my husband, daughter & elderly father had to evacuate due to sudden volcanic eruptions on the ridge above us called Lani Puna Gardens. By May 18 our Farm & homes on the farm were covered in lava. I am Tesha Montoya & for 17 years I planted & poured my heart & soul into the earth into an oasis of permaculture, self sufficiency, community gardens using off grid& solar systems. The gardens & bounty became so abundant over 17 years of hard work stewarding that we were able to eat 2 meals a day from it and sell extra fruit & honey to the Natural grocers & fruit stand. We lost our home & business from volcanic eruptions that happened suddenly cutting us off from access to my farm with many rivers of lava that eventually took our farm this month! . We did not have time to evacuate our belongings, but we did have time to get our 100 animals out. The earth was beautiful with exotic tropical fruits; I planted over 100 different kinds of exotic tropical fruit 17 years ago., raised bed veggie gardens, taro patches, medicinal plants, nuts & herbs, ..Evan our durians fruited! We cared for around 90 animals on the farm. I hosted a permaculture experience in the jungle offering affordable housing options such as work trade for about 100 people a year. We threw events for the community. Also what was lost in the lava is : an exotic tropical fruit tree nursery, my sewing studio for my fashion business including sewing machines, my house - a 3 story octagon, 4 cabins, 2 community centers (giant geo dome and a 6 sided bamboo structure built with bamboo harvested on the Farm), a community kitchen , 5 deluxe campsites , 2 greenhouses, children’s playground, a zipline , 15 animal habitat houses (for sheep, guinea pigs, bunnies, chicks & ducks), a 2 story mercabah, tool shed, solar equipment & lots of flowers!! I do not have a savings because creating a farm with housing for others is quite expensive ~ each dime I made went into the farm/ eco center. I made a modest income also selling the produce, eggs & honey that I am now without. This is why I am asking for help with donations to start over somewhere. Also our local town businesses such as my boutique have suffered from economical crash involving unhealthy gases, earthquakes & eruptions keeping away tourists & shoppers. I lost everything in lava & so did my family.., so we are in need of simple things now like a sewing machine so I can continue my career as a fashion designer, or things like furniture or a mattress topper. If anyone would like to collaborate on land in Hawaii or elsewhere with similar visions, or donate to help me get on land or rentals I’m open to what Great Spirit Spirit has for my donations & your donation will help able me to get some foundation again. I’m forced to start new somewhere now and could use help with the moving expenses. The lava continues to flow each day in our community. There is no end in near sight for us. The air quality can be really bad here. I feel like starting new somewhere would be a good option. The crator keeps collapsing pushing more lava out into our community. Prayers for the people of Puna & our beloved beauty green nature lands of Pohoiki & Kapoho... I give thanks for my time I was blessed to spend on In nature’s Eden. Thank u to all those helped make it special along the way ❤️

A couple weeks ago 24 volcanic fizzures opened up on a ridge line above us extending in both directions along an old lava tube that filled from an earthquake that made Kileaua shift her lava from her crator to dome into our neighborhood :( on May 18 lava started coming out of the fizzures and spread in many directions along Lower Puna reaching our home . It also took my fathers cabin as he was living on my farm and I was taking care of him .. the lava took all 13 structures (2 story merkabahs, Geo dome, octagons ), and 100 different kinds of fruit trees.. veggie gardens ~ everything ~
I lived on my land for the past 17 years. It was raw land when I arrived . I Raised my two daughters there. (Single mom a lot of it ). I planted a rare exotic fruit orchard over 15 years ago so it was all fruiting. I put every dime I made into the place to be able to live the dream of living off the land with community. I had many solar systems & off grid energy systems. After many years of hard work & volunteers coming to practice permaculture in exchange for rent , everything was perfect (raised veggie gardens, community structures, animal habitats , botanical gardens, ).. it was truly sustainable and I thought I was going to get to relax finally & enjoy the place & not work so hard ~ as the Infastructure was all finally in place ! But no .. God or geological forces had other plans for what happened to the sacred earth that we were so blessed to get to be living so close with . Luckily we were able to evacuate the bees, sheep, chickens , rabbits , guide pigs , cats , dogs and ducks ... I , however, was not able to gets much of my belongings out. Photo albums being the hardest to let go of ...

I have a go fund me asking for help to afford to move somehere and have a new start in life ..!
I’m going to go check out Maui, Kuai & Oahu. I’m also open to check out Belize ,& New Calodonia ! I’m from the west coast of the States. Interested in a trip to go feel where my family and I are called to ...!
As sad and hard as it has been to go thru this experience I am a bit excited for the future to have the next chapter in life!

I want to express a heartfelt thank you to everyone that donated to help my family move out of the eruption area. The lava continues to take more land each day. I also want to thank so many people for their efforts to make our Farm the jewel Lotus of farms! It was incredible & I will always cherish our times together on our community farm as well as the memories we made there and with the plants
