LGBTQ+ Sexworkers Canal Pride 2017

For the very first time in Amsterdam, there is a collective of LGBTQ+ sexworkers brave enough to come out and be proud of their work.

With a special prideboat by and for LGBTQ+ sexworkers we are claiming respect for a stigmatized (sub)group within the LGBTQ+ community.

For many sexworkers their (side)job is enjoyable, but it is still associated with a double stigma and discrimination. Within as well as outside the LGBTQIA+ community, there is often intolerance and incomprehension for our work. Furthermore there are still plenty of prejudices towards LGBTQ+ people. 

Having a LGBTQ+ sexworker boat present at the Gaypride can make the difference. We want to make visible what has been invisible.
The boat will represent a collective of proud LGBTQ+ sexworkers that want to show the entire world how diverse we are.

Falling under the theme of "This is my pride" we are claiming our place within the LGBTQ+ community.
To depict this theme we will have sexworkers perform acts with props like the windows and lantarnpoles reminiscent of the red light district.

The boat is being facilitated by P&G292.
This prostitution and healthcare clinic is THE place in Amsterdam where sexworkers (prostitutes, strippers, porn actors etc) can go to for help, advice and information about their (sexual) health and wellbeing.
Special attention goes to LGBTQ+ sexworkers.
Here, confidants host a thinktank once a month to give these stigmatized people a voice and a safespace.

In order to actualize the sexworker boat the expenses were calculated  at 15.000 euros which includes the decoration, lights, banners, music installation, dance acts and the boat itself.
We have managed to acquire 9000 euros already and require 6000 more by august 1st 2017.

This is a non-profit organisation and any excess contributions will be donated to causes that benefit LGBTQ+ and sexworkers.
