5K for the Hero Initiative!

Tax deductible
I'm running a 5K this June for the Hero Initiative, the organization that helps comic book creators in need, because everyone deserves a Golden Age!

Hello everybody, your friend Dave here. You may recall that last year I ran my first 5K race and took that opportunity to raise money for the Hero Initiatve, a great organization that assists comic book creators in need. Not only did I have a great time challenging myself with my first 5K, I was also able to raise $330 for a great cause thanks to your generosity.

Well, I've decided to run another 5K this June and (with your help) I'm hoping to raise even MORE money for Hero Initiative.

That's great, Dave! What the heck is the Hero Initiative?
I'm glad you asked. Everyone knows Batman, Superman, Daredevil, the X-Men. . . but what about the folks who wrote and drew those stories, and who developed those characters that have become pop culture icons? Many of them worked (and many still do) as freelancers, living paycheck to paycheck, earning a per page rate, with no royalties, ownership stake or benefits. When they become ill and cannot work or face financial hardship there is no safety net. That's where the Hero Initiative comes in.

Founded by publishers and professionals in 2000, the Hero Initiative is the only Federally chartered non-profit corporation dedicated to helping comic creators in need. They've provided funds for medical aid, financial assistance for life expenses like rent and utilities and even helped one artist rebuild his studio after it was destroyed by a tornado. And they have provided creators with an avenue back into paying work within the comics industry.

I have been a fan of comic books and comic book art my whole life and I'm proud to support an organization that helps those who have given me so much enjoyment over the years. Last year I beat my fundraising goal and with your help I'll beat my goal again this year. Please consider donating if you can and feel free to share this link on social media.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
