For James, “My Path Angel”

Hey Friends!! Many of you know that I have been actively working on cleaning up a bike path that goes from the Animal Shelter here in Escondido all the way to Vista. They are working on having it end up in Oceanside but there are currently many homeless and partying people on the trail that unfortunately scare people away. I personally have had several confrontations on the trail that have made me very uncomfortable especially when I am alone. One evening after work I saw a gentleman on a Mountain Bike headed towards a bridge that had about 15 people under it blocking the path. I waved him down and asked if I could join him through that section. We ended up talking all the way home. I learned that James is from New York originally, moved to Florida, and in 1973 was part the USAF airman first class in Texas before he moved to California in 2012. He loves working with metal... creating custom parts, Jewelry, etc. James also spent the last year taking care of his dad until he passed away. He survived stomach cancer, and is riding his bike around 30 miles per day on the bike path, to keep an active healthy lifestyle! So over the next few days I would run into him at about the same time. He then said that he would meet me everyday at the same time and ride me home so that I would be safe. I couldn’t help but notice that his bike is a bit rickety and I would love to help him get an Electra Bicycle. James is a retired vet with a huge heart and what better way to show gratitude for his kindness than to hook him up big time! If we can come together as a community and each pitch in $5-20... imagine how quickly we can pull it off! Thank you for Partnering with me to Honor and Bless my new friend James....our “Path Angel”
