Rhaegar’s Surgery

$1,500 of $1,500 goal

Raised by 31 people in 12 months
I normally hate when people do the go fund me campaigns for trips and study abroad as I believe that you would work hard to save money on your own for your own endeavors. However, I’m in a rut. My cat has had a urinary block since Saturday May 12th. I have spent $1400 trying to get him treated with the usual procedure of having a catheter inserted to aid him and giving him fluids. It has not worked. I need help to get him the only surgery that will save him. I will be starting a go fund me ASAP. If you can please help, I’d greatly appreciate it. I’m also willing to do art commissions for it. So please. Help me save him. The surgery he needs is around $1500 and I have $0 as of right now. Please, I beg you to help me.Rhaegar is only two years old and he is the sweetest boy we have been blessed with. He has never hurt anyone and has only ever been a source of comfort and love.

Hello everyone!

We have some pretty awesome news to share today. This morning we drove to a specialty hospital in Austin and had Rhaegar re-evaluated and the good news is that he has no blockage (right now) and that his blood levels have improved. So no blood transfusion! (Yay!!) He had some ultra sounds done and the cause of his still bloody urine is a pretty large blood clot that was caused (probably) by the catheters. (It is quite common that this happens) The Ultra sound showed no stones (thank god) and because he is able to pee on his own there should be little to no complications.

We have been instructed to closely monitor him and hopefully his new prescription food will help break down the clot over the next week. He is acting more and more like himself (crying for food and pets and he even enjoyed riding in the passenger seat of my car when we got into our neighborhood!) Our only concern now is to wait on this large blood clot to disappear so that he can have a normal flow again.

I want to say thank you oh so much to everyone that has shared, donated, and given words of advice. We were not going to give up on our boy and I’m so glad to know that there were so many others that did not want to give up on him either. I have moved myself to our living room with him ( an air mattress for me and a spacious crate for him) so that I can keep a closer eye on him overnight. I will update you all again soon!

It has been a full day since we have brought home our sweet boy. His appetite has improved and he is more playful than the first time we brought him home from the emergency clinic last week. His spirits seem higher, but we are worried about his pee being bloody. At the second and last vet we had him at, his red blood cell count was at 12% (normally it should be in the 30% range, we are told). This is why we were told he would need a blood transfusion.

We will be taking him to another vet, hopefully tomorrow, to get another opinion and see if he is looking better in terms of his blood levels. Again, we want to thank everyone who has donated, shared, and given wonderful advice.

I am sorry we have not responded to every message. We have been trying to focus on making him as comfortable and happy as possible after all of the craziness of the week. We hope to update you all again soon.

Much love,
Rhaegar's family

Today we were forced to bring him home as the vet would not do anymore treatment without payment. As most of your wonderful donations have yet to be transferred to my account and it coming up to the weekend we are just trying to enjoy and cherish these sweet moments with a sweet boy. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

As of right now Rhaegar needs a blood transfusion before surgery can be thought of. Unfortunately that’s $1800 base not including extra costs. We don’t know what to do and are having to sadly think of letting our sweet boy go. I’d like to share a photo of him from when he first graced our lives. I hope he makes you smile like he has done for us these past two years.
