Kidney Transplant Expenses

Donation protected
Stu Hoover

Diagnosed with kidney failure in 2012 and dialysis started immediately. Since 2013, with the aid of his wife, Cindy, Stu does dialysis at home 5 days a week for 4 hours each session.

The loss of Stu’s kidneys was caused by medications taken over the years for high blood pressure and diabetes.

Stu has waited for a kidney transplant for 6 years … St. Francis in Peoria, IL will not consider him for transplant due to his BMI, even though he is a model patient and follows all the rules …. watching his diet, taking his meds, doing the dialysis regularly. Waiting for a kidney has caused depression and other physical problems, so searching for another facility was started. Stu and Cindy found the Iowa Methodist Center in Des Moines, Iowa, they have their own transplant center.

Stu recently spent 2 days at IMC going through test after test and he has been cleared for transplant. Hopefully in 3 to 6 months he will get the call. When he goes, he will spend 30 days in the hospital. His wife, Cindy, of course will be by his side. She has been an angel through all of this … doing the home dialysis shows the love she has for Stu,

The reason for this fundraiser is for the expenses that will occur during those 30 days in Des Moines. Cindy will need to stay at a hotel and eat her meals out, plus other miscellaneous things that will be sure to crop up when you are hundreds of miles from home.

Please help Stu get through this major hump in life … getting a kidney will give him his life back!
