Gunner Rix Medical Cost Fund

My name is Shelby Keller and last Thursday (Oct 1st, 2015) my 3 year old nephew, Gunner Rix, was taken to see an opthomalogist by his mother due to vision problems.  This was after several doctor's appointments for various reasons within the last month including coordination issues, sleeping problems and mild hand tremors.  They were advised that he had swelling behind his eyes and to take him to the ER. That night he had a CT scan which showed (what was initially believed to be) a 3 cm brain tumor located by his pituitary gland.  He was immediately admitted to Wolfson's Childrens Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Monday, Oct. 5, he underwent an 8+ hour surgery to remove as much as possible of the (what was, in reality) a 4.5cm tumor.  The neuro-surgeon believes it to be a pilocytic astrocytoma.  According to the information the medical staff provided, there are only 3,400 reported cases yearly in the U.S. The results of the biopsy will be back in a week.  It is wrapped around his optic nerve (which they couldn't touch), partially attached to his brainstem (which they couldn't touch) and created 4 walls around his hypothalamus.  The surgeon believes he resected about 70-80% of the tumor. This type of tumor responds well to chemotherapy, so hopefully radiation will not be needed.  This little guy has a long road of therapy and recovery ahead.
He is on his mother's insurance, but due to the situation she is not going to be working and will need to pay out of pocket to keep their insurance. We have had a a great deal of inquiry from all over the country about ways in which to help and if there would be a gofundme account.  This was created to allow my brother and sister-in-law to focus on their son and not financial matters, as much as possible. These funds will be used to cover medical bills from the surgery, chemotherapy, medications, etc. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for the continued prayers and support for Gunner!!
