Aid for Bedford County Horses

Donation protected
This is a fundraising effort for the horses in Bedford County recently made "famous" when one of them was tied to a telephone pole with no shelter. Three of the five horses are stallions and need to be gelded. One of the horses is an older mare (the other is an older gelding) who may be pregnant. The owners do not know if she is pregnant or when she may have been bred, so she needs to be examined by a vet to determine if she is pregnant and if so, when she may be due. She will need supportive care if she is, in fact, expecting, so the sooner we can learn this, the better. The horses' home needs to be vastly improved. The field is full of brambles, fallen trees and other hazards. The fence is currently two loose, low strands of barbed wire, which is dangerous and is causing the horses to cut themselves. These horses need, at minimum, a run-in shed for shelter, as well. All of the horses are in good weight and have been de-wormed and vaccinated, they are friendly and obviously have been treated well and have a good rapport with their owner. Waterproof blankets have already been donated for the horses and should be arriving soon. This is NOT an abuse case, this is a family who is doing the best they can with extremely minimal resources and could sincerely benefit from non-judgmental kindness. Thank you for considering them and this cause!
