Help Red Beard Apiary get started!

Donation protected

Hello Internet, and thank you for taking the time to look at my attempt at Crowdfunding to accelerate a dream that has become an agonizing obsession. I just want to accelerate my ability to provide safe, sustainable food, cosmetics, and balms for my friends and family. One day, I hope to make this my full time profession.

My Name is Joshua McDonald, Founder of Red Beard Apiary, and I am a registered apirist in the State of Ohio, I need your help.

I am looking to expand my Apiary from one hive to four. That's right, I want to expand my production by 300% next year, and I cannot do it alone. Accomplishing this peovides the base for producing Comb and Liquid Honey, Pollen, Propolis, Royal Jelly, and Wax for Balms, Ointments, Candles, and more. It also lessens my dependency on outside supply and reduces my need to mark up on things I can make myself.

The proceeds of this campaign will be used to Purchase the Following:

- Three (3) 10-Frame Langstroth Hive kits. - 1 Acquired as of 8/25/16

- Six (6) 10-Frame Deep Supers for Brood and Honey Production.

- Three (3) Hive Top feeders to provide Sugar Syrup and water to the colonies during dearth periods. (Times when there are not flowers for the bees to visit and bring back food.)

- One (1) Uncapping and Straining Tank.

- Paraffin Wax treatment for all woodenware.

- Two (2) Packages of New World Carniolian honeybees. (I am anticipating being able to split my currently thriving colony into different colonies, but that depends on how harsh our winter is...) - 1 Nucleus Colony Ordered as of 2/1/2017

The Timeline on this is not that bad. Ideally, I would like to have everything in place by March 1, 2017 so that we can start and get the ladies settled as soon as the weather breaks. If we are short, I will do what I can with what I have.

Your help gets me closer to that goal of my own side business, and words cannot describe how much the fact that you took the time to read this wall of text means to me.

My journey with the bees has brought me back to nature, and has reconnected me with a Mantra and Ideal that I have held since I was a child:

"I may not be able to change the world. I alone may not be able to make it a better place. But I will do all I can to not make it worse."

Thank you again and a gain for your Time and Consideration.

Sincerely,

Joshua McDonald
