Thank you for taking the time to visit my Go Fund Me page and I hope that you're inspired by my vision and choose to become a Man of Morehouse. Feel free to share with me any comments, questions or concerns that you may have. I hope that you find my vision inspirational and will share my mission with others via a Facebook share or even a simple conversation. Your support is greatly appreciated!

This fall I plan on attending Morehouse College and joining Morehouse College Class of 2020. Read below for more about my background and the inspiration to pursue this journey. Enjoy reading!

My name is Raekwon Griffin and I am a senior at Asheville High School. I was born and raised in Asheville, North Carolina. After I graduate high school I plan on attending Morehouse College in the fall. Attending Morehouse's Admitted Students Weekend honestly put the icing on the cake. I knew this was the college for me, Morehouse is where I belong. This experience ignited my passion for strongly excelling as an African American male and becoming a Man of Morehouse.

Being able to take part in becoming a Man of Morehouse would be a very valuable experience for me and my professional career. It will expose me to the culture of a Historically Black College/University as well as what it takes to become a Morehouse Man. Attending Morehouse College will look great to my mentees too, being able to let young African Americans know that anything is possible if you work hard and put your mind to it.

I look forward to attending a college as great as Morehouse College because not only will I become a developed man with a disciplined mind who will lead the life of leadership and service but so will every other male student attending this college. Attending this college will also help me gain an even deeper appreciation for the differences of my culture and others.

Thankfully, I have already earned a $6,000 scholarship to help with college costs; however, Morehouse College tuition is $42,000 per year, because I come from a household where my mother is a single parent and unemployed paying this cost is a huge financial burden. I refuse to allow my financial need to stop me from achieving my dreams of becoming a Man of Morehouse. In a household where my mother is a single parent and unemployed, my family isn’t financially stable enough to cover the remainder of my expenses.

I have also applied for several other scholarships to help pay for this awesome experience. I have applied for scholarships such as the Dell Scholarship, Ron Brown Scholarship, and others. I hope to hear back from these scholarship committees with an answer soon.

Without your help, affordsing Morehouse College will become more diffcult. I invite you to contribute to my Go Fund Me account and help me to become closer to embarking on this experience. If you are on the verge of giving I would like to remind you that the size of your gift doesn't matter. Your gift means more to me than money. Your gift is also a statement of your belief in my dreams! It is a statement of your belief in the power of educating African American males.
