PALESTINE TO PETERSBURG

Donation protected
Palestine to Petersburg is happening this summer.  For three prior years teams of  Palestinian youth have traveled to Virginia to work side by side with U.S. youth groups to repair homes in Petersburg, Virginia during a week of retreat at Tri-Cities Workcamps,
Federal Non-Profit #54-1477711 (Non-Profit 501C-3).

With all of the disparaging news about Palestine, these youth are shining examples of their churches, families and schools.  They are part of 200 youth and their leaders that camp out in a local school and are divided up into crews to repair 24 homes.  We work hard during the day, but we play just as hard in the evening.  Through work and play, deep and lasting friendships are formed between the Arab youth and the American teens.  The same lasting bonds are made between the residents and their workcrews.

Traveling to Virginia from Nablus, Palestine is very risky and challenging.  They first must get permission to leave their country.  Then they must take a 10 hour journey on dangerous back roads through IDF checkpoints to Amman, Jordan.  They are not permitted to fly out of Tel Aviv which is less than an hour away nor are they allowed to travel main highways.
The funds we are asking for will be used to purchase their plane tickets from Amman to Dulles Airport in Washington D.C..  The tickets are about $1100 - $1200 each.  We're hoping that they might be less this year since the price of gas and oil is at a low.  The earlier the tickets are purchase, the better pricing will be.  Ideally we could use the money for tickets by April 1, 2016.   Your gift will be deposited in the Tri-Cities Workcamps bank account and go directly for buying the plane tickets.  Our organization will be glad to send you a receipt for your tax free donation.
Having this group of teens join us here creates so many ripple effects.  Misunderstanding about the Arab/Palestinian culture is erased.  The Middle Eastern teens get to experience freedom without fear.  All of the teens become aware of poverty and need in U.S. families and neighborhoods.
When asked what was important about participating in workcamping, Ameed said for the first time he is able to be on the giving end of help instead of the receiving end. It is a door of hope for teens who are in a hopeless situation in their homeland.
Thank yous are immeasureable.  Lives are changed, homes are changed and neighborhoods are given hope.  Cultures are shared, bonds of love are created and lasting friendships are grown.
All of this happens for just the price of a plane ticket.  I hope that you can be part of creating this peace and love!
