Caring Hearts For Kyle

Caring Hearts for Kyle It’s the call you pray you never get. “Mom they found a tumor in my bladder, they think it’s Cancer”.  “What do I do, what do I do.” We dropped everything, it was like glass hitting the tile. As parents we try to have all the answers, we are ready with sage advice. He was listening intently for my words of wisdom but I can’t fix this. God, I’m so sorry son. My son’s name is Kyle Seth Burt he turned 31 in February. Kyle graduated from Hartland High in 2005 and attended North Western University, he’s a car guy! He is currently on disability from his job (which he loves) as a Fabricator at the GM Proving Grounds. He loves his work and his coworkers and can’t be convinced or imagine not going back soon! We are so proud of Kyle and his achievements, a wonderful son, loving friend, avid outdoorsmen, and a hard worker…never been sick before, now incapacitated and terrified! We are heartbroken for him. Kyle went in to the doctor because he noticed blood in his urine, we thought maybe a kidney stone. The ultrasound showed the mass and within days he underwent the first surgery. A second opinion confirmed Invasive Urothelial Carcinoma. A second biopsy December 28th showed this cancer is very aggressive and had already returned in the bladder. They were hopeful with immunotherapy they could save his bladder! We were cautiously hopeful and braced ourselves for BCG treatment to begin. After the third of five immunotherapy treatments (Bacille-Calmette Guerin-BCG) Kyle began having severe back pain.  Each day his condition worsened to the point that he was unable to walk, stand or sit in constant agony. The cancer had metastasized into lytic bone lesions in his sacral joint and tail bone. He was immediately rushed to University of Michigan Cancer Center. Two long, painful hospital stays and five radiation treatments later we are so grateful that he can walk but he is unable to sit or stand for long and cannot work. He has to finish 3-4 months of extensive chemotherapy beginning in April.   Like most of us Kyle is “Under insured” for Cancer, we all are really. A whirlwind of treatments, testing, medications, hospital stays and surgeries have left him incapacitated with a meager and temporary disability check. Within weeks he was drowning in thousands of dollars in co-pays, deductibles and out of pocket medical expenses that continue to roll in not to mention all of his basic monthly bills.   This is why I am reaching out to you for assistance. We need help getting him through the next four months of chemotherapy ahead. His small home in Cohoctah Township is his life, all he has…we want to help him hold on to it through this tough time but we need your help, Any donation that you could find in your heart to offer would be greatly appreciated. We need to be able to pay the hospital bills and medical expenses of the treatments to come. We are working hard to keep him raised up body, mind and spirit. We need your support by way of prayers and your generosity. For my son I have no pride, I am asking for your monetary support to help him pay these medical bills and get him through these grueling treatments with Faith, Peace of mind and Strength. I have promised him it will be ok, I will do anything to keep my promise. We have faith in Kyle and our friends and family. Faith that even if it is not ok, we will make it through this fight together with Caring Hearts for Kyle. Thank you so much for your prayers and support!
