I'm starting this account for my best friend/cousin/sister....she's everything to me!

She was in a horrible car accident with an 18 wheeler. The 18 wheeler pulled out in front of her while she was going 70 and she had no time to hit the breaks. She went from 70-0 instantly. It took the medics almost 3 hours to cut her out of the car. The DPS officer that was at the scene told us that in his 16 years of service he had never seen anyone survive an accident like that.

Her injuries:

Her blood pressure dropped for a bit but it's back up now. It was pretty scary for a minute there.

Concussion, lacerations on her face with glass in them, laceration on an ear, nearly bit her tongue off, lung collapsed, 6-10 broken ribs, bruised bowel, perforated colon, right leg: broken femur, shattered heel bone, broken ankle, they may amputate the right foot later on (as of now she still has the foot but she's only got a 40% of keeping it), left leg: tib/fib fracture, and fracture on her foot, left arm is completely messed up, she had bones sticking out of her left hand. She had too much blood and fluid around her lungs so they put in two chest tubes.

They fixed all the internal bleeds, fixed everything on the right leg, they're going to fix the tib/fib fracture Wednesday. They fixed the arm, they'll fix her hand later. Plastic surgeon has fixed her tongue and lacerations on the face. They left her stomach open over night and they plan to close it Wednesday (I think). She is intibated now.

She is stable right now and it's looking pretty good. She has surgery scheduled for Wednesday and another one on Friday. I'm sure there will be many more to follow.

A little bit about Mak....

She's 25 and a charge nurse at Harris Methodist in Fort Worth (She was on her way to work when the wreck happened). She's loves her job and loves everyone she works with. She's the goofiest and most ridiculous, happy go lucky person I know. She's so caring and selfless. She would do anything for anyone.

My family and I cannot express how thankful and appreciative we are for the outpouring of love and prayers Makayla is receiving. It's overwhelming to know how many people care.

Her coworkers here at Harris are absolutely amazing. They all pulled together their vacation time in order to allow Mak to receive another paycheck. They're constantly coming to check on her and going above and beyond to help our family out.

I set the goal at $5000 because I didn't want to seem too greedy, but if we raise more for her than that's obviously okay by us.

****update****
I changed the goal to $15,000. She's going to have more surgeries and tons of rehab in her future. She needs every little bit of help she can get!
********

She's a nurse, who will not be able to be on her feet and back to work for quite some time. She has a LONG road ahead of her and will need all the help, support, and love she can get.

Please donate. Every little bit helps at this point. I set this up because I don't want her, her husband, or the rest of our family to worry about the finances. I want all of our focus to be on her and her alone.

Here's the quote in her Instagram "about me" section: "strength comes from making a conscious decision to push forward no matter what the circumstances are." Pretty awesome.

I can't wait for her to wake up and hear all about everyone who has been asking about her. She is so blessed and loved.

Thank y'all so much for everything!
