Your donations will go to support Carmen's immediate and secondary family.
We are trying to help our family escape Tacloban and stay in Manila until it is safe to return. Her family lost everything. Their family house was destroyed and everything inside is gone.
In Carmen's immediate family are her mother, 2 youngest sisters 18 & 19, her sister (married) 26 with 3 boys age 2,6 &7 . There are 2 brothers 32 & 28 and brother in law 25 and uncle (that helped raise them in the absence of their father) that will stay behind due to lack of transportation out of the affected area.
Our hope is to be able to provide housing, clothes and food while they wait for conditions to improve so that they may return.
We also want to help her mom's sister who lived next door. In this family their is an urgent need as there is a woman that is 9 months pregnant. This family consists of her aunt and uncle; son with pregnant wife and son age 1; daughter with 5 boys age 10,9,7,7,&2 one of the 7 year old twins has cerebral palsy; daughter with boy age 3. They too have lost their home and all their belongings.
In both families the adult males will stay behind due to the shortage of transportation out of the area.
Our goal is to provide support for these families until it is safe to return to Tacloban. We will also provide food for the men who will be staying behind during this extreme hardship.
This is a very close family and we want to help the best we can. Carmen and I feel very blessed that we escaped this storm only hours before it landed. We knew in leaving that we would be able to help from back home in Colorado rather than being victims there. It is very hard knowing how hard our family is suffering. So this is our motivation to do all we can to help support them.
