Supporting Maya Universe Academy

Thank you for your interest in our project.

From a young age, we have felt strongly about making a difference in our community by providing access to education to those deprived of it. Starting off our venture in social entrepreneurship, we will be going to Tanahu, Nepal and volunteering in Maya Universe Academy (MUA)"”the first free private school of Nepal. MUA is a product of a youth movement that provides free yet high quality education in rural parts of Nepal. The school promotes a unique idea of education"”instead of parents paying school fees, they contribute two days in a month to help the school build a self-sustainable community. Many local and foreign volunteers have helped MUA in various ways from teaching classes to building classrooms. Although we have several plans and larger projects lined up for the future, we will start off by helping MUA with basic classroom stationery supplies, teaching non-core classes, and leading extracurricular activities. We are currently raising funds to distribute books and classroom stationery supplies to MUA. The amount of our fund we raise is crucial in determining the amount of supplies we will be able to donate. The entire fund will be used for the school since travel and accommodation expenses have been sponsored by Colby-Sawyer College's Wesson Honors Idea Fund.

This project will be the pioneer of our social entrepreneurship venture. It is an excellent opportunity for us to learn and to make a difference. We are counting on our well-wishers and supporters like yourselves for moral and financial support in our endeavor.
