Lance Wheeler who is a loving father to 6 kids whom 5 of them are boys and 1 a girl, and the second to last youngest out of 3 sisters. And a grandfather of 4 which 2 that he took under his wing. Lance is a man who had a rough up bringing, from living in poverty and dealing with addiction. To becoming a man and writing his wrongs to get his family back. Acting back in 2007, Lance has now been standing by his sobriety for 12 years and counting while helping kids and their addiction as well. Helping his daughter get through her second year in college. Lance, who I would consider a 'workaholic' man was working from sunrise to sunset including the graveyard shift. Saving every penny, he got. A determined man had become ill during December of 2018.
Going to the hospital numerous accounts complaining about lower back pain, the doctors repeatedly told him it was numerous of other sickness such as kidney stones, stress, herniated disk, yet they failed to find the cause. Until the beginning of April (4 months later) when the rushed him to Beth Israel hospital. They told him the news a few hours later that he has pancreatic cancer. One of the most aggressive cancers. As we all waited for the results to tell us what stage the cancer was in, we hoped and prayed for better news. As the doctor walked in with a smile on her facing sharing the good news that is was stage 1. We all felt relieved. It was a battle for sure that we know he can win. A few days passed when we got the called that a mistake has been made. It wasn’t stage 1 cancer it was stage 4. It has spread throughout his body. As his spirit remained high while his kids and sisters started to crack, the wise A man who was once a solider for the Vietnam war leaned over and said that he has fought harder battles than this and will not be defeated.
Lance who is a very spiritual man kept his conscious mind clear and remained calm. As he does not want his family to worry too much and start to act irrational. As he faithfully goes to treatment with spirits held to the almighty, it was a matter of time before we were then hit with another obstacle. Financial problems.
On average Chemotherapy cost 10,000 a month for treatment. Coming to go fund me was the only way that we can pay for such an expensive bill. As a human race it is very important that we rely on each other, cause the reality is we only have each other on this planet we call earth. From mothers, to siblings, to friends and teachers. We look to each other for safety as policemen and women as well as firefighters. We look to each other for healing. Whether it's therapy or a medical doctor.
