Prom For A Purpose

Donation protected
Hey! My name is Feisal Borjas and I'm a Grade 12 student from Our Lady of Mount Carmel CSS in Mississauga. In 2005, my parents decided to move to Canada from Honduras so that my brothers and I would have a better life. Honduras is one of the poorest countries in Latin America where many people face a life of extreme poverty, corruption, and violence. Without my parents who made a great sacrifice for my family, that life could have been mine, and that is why I'm calling all of you to join me on this journey and answer the call to service.

Prom is meant to be a special night where everyone looks their best for pictures, a nice dinner, and a dance. Prom for a Purpose (#P4AP) is a campaign launched in 2017 by Julienne Candelaria to give Prom a more meaningful reason and give back to the community on a larger scale. This year, I will continue the impact she made by launching it for myself. All funds will go towards Food for the Poor Honduras, one of the primary organizations actively providing food and basic necessities to the poor all over the country. The money will primarily be used to send supply packs with food, medicine, and other necessities to local communities in Honduras. It may also be used to fund community development projects dealing with water sanitation, housing, and medical/orphan support. If the goal of $3000 is reached, then I will wear a banana costume to Prom.

I've also made a list of challenges to do if the following goals are met:
→$500 (Drink gross smoothie and stream it)
→$750 (Perform in a lip sync battle in banana costume)
→$1000 (Rap to my own verse)
→$1250 (Walk around Square One in a banana)
→$1500 (Throw pie at me, most likely in the school caf)
→$2000 (Get a buzz cut)
→$2500 (Eat the spiciest pepper I can find)
→$3000 (Wear a banana costume to prom!)
(Let me know if you have any ideas and I'll do more)

None of us were born into this life on purpose. It is by luck alone that we live lives of safety, security, and stability. I know that without the aid of my parents, I wouldn't be able to stand here today, about to graduate from an amazing school in a country that's opened my eyes. If we can give an opportunity to those who are less lucky than us, we give the world a chance of making a new miracle. I always keep Honduras in my prayers and if we can give the country even the slightest bit of help to heal, it will definitely be a miracle to me.

After meeting Julienne last August, I was inspired by how she raised over $8,000 for education in the Philippines by wearing a hot dog costume to her prom. Her story empowered me so much, and it taught me that there's a beautiful world beyond our own that needs our help. Through this project, I've made it my mission to show that real, amazing change is far from impossible, and I want as many of you as possible to be a part of it.

I highly encourage all of you to participate in any way you can. I will also be accepting donations in person or through e-transfer. Here's my contact info:
