Love and Support for Jessica Fish

$10,620 of $15,000 goal

Raised by 80 people in 14 months
About a month ago my sister, Jessica Fish, was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. At 39 years old, she is ready to fight and beat this aggressive cancer.

In the tests she has had in the last month, the doctors have found that the cancer is not only in her breasts, but has also metastasized to the lymph nodes in her arm pit. There is also a spot in her T2 vertebrae in her back. She had a bone biopsy today and will find out in a few days if the cancer has spread to that area. Jessica had a port put in last week and will be starting her first chemotherapy treatment tomorrow, February 14th.

For those of you who know my sister, you know that this cancer picked the wrong woman and family to mess with. Jessica is my younger sister, but she is the strongest, toughest, and bravest woman I know. And with all of that strength, she has the biggest heart!! ❤️ She is an amazing mother to her four kids, Dawson(18), Caden(15), Reagan(7) and Kaylyn(3). She is supported by the most loving family, especially her husband and best friend, Dave.

I am starting this campaign because this sweet family needs your support. First and foremost, I am asking for your prayers. Please pray for strength and healing for Jessica and for David and for the whole family; we know that Heavenly Father hears and answers our prayers.

Even though they would never ask for it, I want to make sure that while they are fighting this cancer, financial worries can be at the bottom of the list. If you are able to contribute financially, it would really help and be greatly appreciated.

I will use this platform to keep you updated as much as possible. Thank you for all of your love and support.

Family and friends,

It’s been about two months since Jessica’s mastectomy and so far she has healed really well!! She is now doing a couple stretches on her own and slowly building up strength in her arm again but shouldn't need any physical therapy.

She has also started radiation on her left chest wall and lymph nodes near her arm pit. She will have a total of 33 treatments. Please pray that the side effects from the radiation will be minimal. So far it's going well but the biggest side effects will be fatigue and of course burn(sunburn). That usually gets worse with time.

Some great news, Jessica recently had a pet scan that showed no new tumors or anything getting worse!! This is wonderful news and an answer to so many prayers. She is still waiting for scans on the T2 vertebrae but hopefully will have those soon.

Jessica still goes in every three weeks for chemo infusions and that will continue unless her body stops responding to it. Also, Jess has started seeing a new oncologist in anchorage.

And if that wasn’t enough, Dave, Jess and the kids just moved into a new home this last month.

We cant say it enough...THANK YOU so much for all of your continued support, in person, in messages, in gifts, financially...and most importantly, your prayers!! They mean so much to Jessica and all of our family! This is a long hard battle for Jess, so if you are able to help her and her family in any way, it will be more than appreciated!!

And finally, the best part...here is a recent picture of Jess...and what is that??? Her hair is growing back!!
My sister is so beautiful!

Just wanted to give everyone a quick update. Jessica had her surgery today and it went very well!! The surgeon told Dave that she thinks Jessica will heal well and with ease! Also, they didn’t end up having to remove any of her lymph nodes and her surgeon thinks this should not cause any issues. All things considered, Jessica is feeling pretty good and was asking for food!! (Poor girl hadn’t been able to eat since midnight last night and didn’t get into recovery til around 4pm.) Anyhow, she is in a room now and hopefully will get some good rest tonight.

We can’t thank you enough for your thoughts and prayers and well wishes! If you need specific information about Jessica’s room number, please contact me or Dave through FB messenger or by text.

*First off I want to apologize for the long wait for an update. I have had some issues with the GoFundMe login, but thankfully everything is fixed now. (Calli)

With that being said, there is a lot of news to share!

First off, Jessica fingished the hard core chemo at the end of May. This chemo was really rough on her system but Jess is a fighter and I don’t think I ever heard her complain. She is now on maintenance chemo which is only 2 drugs compared to the 4 from the first 5 months. So far, she says, other than the occasional fatigue this chemo is much easier to handle. She will be on this maintenance chemo for at least the next year.

The great news is that according to the scans she has had recently, the chemo and prayers are doing their job.! The scans show that all of the tumors in her breast have shrunk to the point that they didn’t see them at all in the ultrasound or mammogram. And the tumor in the lymph node had almost completely shrunk! WHAT A MIRACLE and an answer to prayer!!!

Also, she had 5 radiation treatments on her T2 vertebrae at the end of May. She had what is called Cyberknife radiation. This is a newer form of radiation that allows radiologists to deliver targeted high doses of radiation to tumors that might otherwise be inoperable or require complex surgery. She will have scans in a few months to see how the tumor responded.

Finally, next Wednesday, the 25th, she will be having a single mastectomy as well as a sentinel node dissection (surgery on the lymph node) at Providence Hospital. Hopefully, she will just be there for a few days.

Thank you all for your prayers, thoughts, gifts, meals and financial contributions. It has meant so much to Jessica and her family.

We would ask that, as Jessica prepares for this major surgery, to please continue to keep her, her family and the doctors performing the surgery in your prayers.

Thank you again for all of your love and support!!

Last weekend was a rough one for Jessica. She spent a few days with some pretty hard core chemo side effects-Fever, chills, body aches, fatigue, nausea and headaches...all at once. But, thanks to your prayers, medication, rest and the support of her family, they only lasted a couple days and she is currently doing much better. She is still struggling with daily fatigue and nausea off and on, but for the most part, she tells me she is feeling ok. In my eyes, she’s a superhero!!

One of the hardest parts of the whole weekend was her two little girls Reagan and Kaylyn were sick with ear infections and due to Mama’s weak immune system, she couldn’t cuddle them like she normally would. If you know my sister, you know her kids mean everything to her and that has got to be so hard. Thankfully, Daddy took amazing care of them and both girls are feeling much better this week.

And now to end this post with some great news...Jessica had an MRI of her Brain this past week and got good news yesterday. The scan showed NO signs of cancer anywhere in her brain!! Yaaaaaaay!!

Annnnnd...on March 14th, Jessica and Dave celebrated 20 years of marriage!!

CONGRATULATIONS Jessica and David!! If you have had the pleasure of spending any time around these High School sweethearts, you see a love that is so special and unique!! I personally have always admired the way they support one another and laugh and smile their way through life! Way to go you two...here’s to many more years of love and happiness!!

Once again, I want to end this post with a BIG thank you for all of your prayers, support and love. This next week, Dave will be heading to Kodiak for work, so please send some extra prayers their way.
