Despite being born seemingly healthy in everyway, my daughter Hannah was diagnosed with a fatal neurodegenerative disease (Batten Disease) over three years ago at the age of 6. So far, it has left her completely blind, she suffers from worsing seizures, cognitive decline, dementia, memory loss, sleeping difficulties, and severe behavioral problems. Through it all, she keeps on loving, laughing, and living each day to the fullest. Within the next few years she will be wheelchair bound so we are trying to raise money to modify our home so that it is medically accessible to Hannah now (mostly her blindness and memory problems) and in the future. Do to her condition, it is no longer healthy or safe for her and her sister to share a bedroom. She has become my one true hero and she deserves to have a home that helps her live the rest of her shortened life without the struggles we are currently dealing with daily in our home. This room will also give her older sister Paige, her own room and space to do homework and be able to sleep through the night without disruption. Which makes her even healthier in the process. We are currently converting our current single car garage into a bedroom and accessible bathroom and adding a single car garage next to it. This room will also help us to have a night nurse that can give me a break and allow me to rest from time to time so that I can stay healthy for both of my children. We are hoping to finish up the house this summer.
