India immersion

I will be travelling to India on an immersion with my peers at St Ignatius college, Riverview.
The trip is as follows...
We arrive in Kolkata and will be working with the Missionaries of Charity in a few of their homes, a home for abandoned and disabled children and a men’s home.
We also spend time with the rainbows who are marginalised children, living either at risk in the street or red light district. The girls are given a place to live and an education. As well we will visit the Brickfields where we have paid for teachers for the last 7 years as well as the resources etc.
From Kolkata we plan to travel to Hazaribagh which is where the Jesuits started 60+ years ago.
Then onto Varanasi.
We will visit and spend time at a home established for rescued girls from living on the railway platforms and sold into the sex trade. It’s an incredible place and the stories are heartbreaking.
We also spend time at Jeevan Jyoti a residential home and school for visually impaired girls. We leave funds with the Sisters for eye surgery for local villages and last year our money paid for over 60 eye surgeries!!!
Then I’m hoping we can head to Vatsalya a children’s village in rural Jaipur. We will live with the children and last year the boys made a solar structure and worked on the solar oven... since then they have expanded and are now 100% solar powered for all cooking, refrigeration and hot water!!!!
