FAMILIAL ADENOMATOUS POLYPOSIS

My story, well I'm telling my story for my husband and my son. They both have FAMILIAL ADENOMATOUS POLYPOSIS (FAP). This disease puts them at a higher risk for Colon Cancer. This disease is hereditary. My husband had an uncle in the hospital and we asked if we could do a blood test on him to see what exactly he had. Well he also has FAP, so then we had a genetic test done on my husband and our three boys. Well my husband has it and at the time my son was 10 yrs. Our other two boys didn't get this diseases only our youngest boy. My husband and our son have had an upper and lower GI. And both of them have hundreds of polyps. My son who is now 11yrs old has just as many polyps as my husband does. As a child with FAP he's not supposed to be showing this many polyps until his mid teenage years. Both my husband and my son have to have a two part surgery. The first one is to remove the large intestine and to make a J-pouch. They will both be wearing a colostomy bag for 6 to 8 weeks. Then after that have another surgery to remove the colostomy bag and then recover from that surgery as well. Both me and my husband work ,we both have medical insurance. The medical insurance only pays so much, and we will only be getting part of our checks from work. We are asking for help,to help pay for the medical expenses, and the travel that we have to do from home and to the doctor appointment afterwards. I really appreciate everyone that donates to our cause. To help our family get through this really bad time we are going through. Both my husband and son will be having these surgeries this summer. We want our son to get a fresh start going into the 6th grade.
