Dublin Rising, A New Musical
Donation protected
What does a freedom fighter look like? What if she looked like a prostitute with a silver tongue and a pistol in her garter?
Set in 1916 Dublin, during Ireland’s War of Independence, Dublin Rising is a musical drama that tells the story of three patriotic Irish women — a prostitute, a middle-class wife, and a teenage mother — fighting for their country’s freedom while waging personal battles for liberation on the home front.
The score blends Irish rock with contemporary musical theater. It has a cast of 16 plus chorus, and a single unit set, and can be a star vehicle for the right actress. It had a successful 3-stage workshop in Las Vegas, Nevada, culminating in 3 staged performances. Dublin Rising is a high-action, high-drama musical -- a fast-paced, tightly woven story that throws the audience directly into the middle of an uprising.
