Until last night we thought our new neighbours were lovely. This house was meant to be a safe house, for us to escape my mum’s violent ex.

My little brother has only half a working heart (a rare heart defect called Tricuspid Atresia); and my mum is disabled with a degenerative spine. That’s why we moved to the seaside, as a place for them to recouperate and do so in complete safety. My brother only just turned 5 years old last week - his condition is, ultimately, terminal. The only care he receives is palliative, and the thought that we could have lost him last night, when his life is so short already, is devastating.

Last night (16th April 2018/17th April 2018) we were awoken at around 1am by the smell of smoke and the vision of flames roaring from our garage. A person committed arson and attempted murder by setting our house on fire with the help of a can of petrol, and they’re in police custody.  We’ve never even met him. I can’t understand why anyone would do this to us.

Mum served 26 years in the NHS, working in operating theatres and saving people’s lives; but as she’s medically retired we have no income, and thus nothing with which to rebuild our lives (and thank goodness we still have those). Her mobility scooter was completely destroyed in the blaze, as were many of the things that we had to decorate the house (we only moved here in November).

We only got back from hospital around about 5am this morning after being tested/treated for smoke inhalation. We are all exhausted, physically and emotionally. This home was meant to be our new start.

Please, if you can share this page and/or give anything to help us rebuild our lives, we would be so, SO greatful.

Quick note: I’ve changed our location purely because this is meant to be a secure address/safe house and I’m just trying to keep my family safe and protected. We are in the Humberside region.

Howdy folks! Today we’ve managed to start getting in to the garage and start Operation #KickMyAsh aka the big clean-up! We’ve spent the last week putting up posters around our hometown and cleaning up all the ash/soot inside the main body of the house (it’s starting to smell less like a petrol-soaked barbecue ).

Now that we have electricity back and working after paying a whopping £600 for repairs/replacements of wires and the consumer unit our main priority has been to get the utility area de-smokified (mum says that’s not a real word, but I’m going to use it anyway).

It’s not been easy - mum had a minor operation on Friday just gone; my baby brother is in hospital next week, and I’m currently going through some health issues too due to having been put back on gluten for a gastroscopy. But today we’ve managed to spend a good 5 hours washing down the walls; doors, and floor. Still a lot of ash around, but we’re getting there.

The next step is to replace the washing machine and tumble dryer, which we DESPERATELY need. My little brother needs clean and dry clothes more so than anyone, as his heart condition (Tricuspid Atresia) makes him medically fragile and vulnerable. If you could please share and/or donate, it would mean the world!

Thank you so much! All the love, Olivia and Family xxx

We’ve finally got electricity back in the house after the fire completely destroyed the consumer unit and melted all the wires in the garage. The washing machine and tumble dryer were complete write-offs - a lovely friend of my mum’s came around to help us get them out of the house; and a neighbour who’s recently had a beautiful baby girl took them away for us. Although this fire has left us in a difficult situation financially and emotionally, we have also had a lot of very kind people (such as yourselves) helping us out in whichever way they can. Thank you

Please keep sharing! And please donate if you can We are deeply thankful for every kind word uttered; every penny donated, and every bit of help lent to us. Big love!

Hi everybody! Just to say that if we manage to hit our goal/if we go over our goal for fundraising, any excess money raised, or any money leftover from repairs, will be donated to a local Children's Hospice. Big love xxx

Thank you to everyone who’s gotten involved with our fundraiser. I would like to clarify something for everyone.
We have had numerous people asking ‘What did you do to them [the arsonist] to make them do it?’, ‘Was there a dispute?’ Etc.

The answer is no, there is no dispute. We have done nothing to them.

This was a mindless, violent attack committed by a teenager whom we’ve never met.

The only person who can answer the question as to why this has happened is the arsonist.
