On Sunday January 28, 2018 Kyle was taken to MUSC Children's Hospital after being sick. They discovered a golfball size tumor on the back, lower part of his brain. Since Sunday Kyle has had MRIs, an 8+ hour brain surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible, lots of drs in and out. It has been an overwhelming week for him and his family. The drs are pleased with his recovery so far. It was uncertain if he would be able to breath on his own, walk, talk etc after the surgery without long term rehabilitation. Kyle, being the strong little fighter he is, woke up from that long surgery breathing on his own, able to talk and move his arms and legs. Praise God! They are still waiting for the pathology report to give them more of a prognosis. It may take a few days. Regardless of the pathology results, Kyle will be undergoing Radiation and Chemotherapy in the future. It is a long, uncharted road ahead for them. As they figure out the plan and help Kyle get through this long journey they are so thankful for all of your prayers! Please continue to pray for Kyle and full healing.

I've been friends with Olga for the last 15 years and she is the most kind, generous, helpful person I have ever met! She's the first one to volunteer to help someone who needs it. She has a servants heart and I am proud to call her a best friend. ❤️ Coming together and helping her is the least I can do. I thought that getting some donations together to help ease any financial burden during this already difficult time, would be a good start. They will be at the hospital for a long while and traveling to also see Claire, go home for showers etc. They can use this money for gas, food and bills over the next few months as they stay by Kyle's side. The money will go directly to Olga and Blue to use as needed. I know as the amazingly helpful person she is, she isn't one that asks for help. She's used to being the doer. So I took it upon myself to get this started because I know that she would do the same for me. Finances are the last thing they need to worry about during this time. So if you're able to donate even just a dollar, that'd be great. If you can't donate, no worries! Please just continue to pray for Kyle, Claire, Olga and Blue.

I will post updates in here as I get them. If you "follow" this campaign it should email you updates as they're posted.

Kyle can't receive visitors at this time. He is in the ICU and they won't let us go up there. However if you are wanting to drop off something to help cheer him or Claire up, you can leave it with the front desk at MUSC Children's hospital. And tell them it is for Joseph (Kyle) Glover. He's in Unit 7C in room 777.

New update: The Glover’s are back from New York after spending about a week up there. Kyle had an MRI last Friday. This was his first MRI after completing another 10 rounds of Radiation over the holidays.

The MRI showed that the newer area on the brain stem looks to have decreased in size. However, the original tumor looks to have grown. He’s got some fluid in the ventricles which combined with swelling are likely what is causing him such terrible headaches. His eyes are a little better, though he’s still having to close one to see well. Drs are concerned with how he’s declined over the last 4 months. Clinically he’s not been feeling too well at all. Poor little guy. Severe headaches and some nausea. They’re able to control it some with meds, but traveling from SC to New York every 3 weeks has been tough for him. (Can you imagine having to travel so far when in pain and nauseated )
So, right now as he’s still in the ONC201 study, (the treatments they go to NY for) Olga and Blue are discussing options for keeping the trips easier on him. They’ve discussed possibly staying up in NY for a time so that they don’t have to keep making the drive every 3 weeks (and then again for MRIs). The traveling is just so hard for him. They are still brainstorming their options, so no decisions on that yet.

They will be going back in 3 weeks for a routine visit. They are so thankful for the prayers, kind words, cards etc! It was one year ago, last week, that they found the brain tumor. It’s overwhelming for them to try and get back to every message/text, as they focus on spending time together as a family and caring for Kyle, but know that they are so grateful for the prayers and kindness over this last year!

Let’s continue to cover them in prayer over these next 3 weeks. They have some decisions to make as a family regarding travel or staying in NY. And, of course continue praying for Kyle.

Hi everyone. I spoke with Olga, and She wants to thank everyone for the sweet texts and messages. She feels very loved! ❤️ They truly appreciate the prayers. She would love to be able to reply to each message. She’s just focusing on spending time loving on her family right now and understandably not spending much time on her phone/social media.
There are not any new updates on Kyle to give at the moment. I promise to update as she asks me to, if there’s anything new. Currently they’re just focusing on spending lots of time together as a family.

I’m happy to relay any messages, if needed. The Glover family is well loved by MANY, and it can be overwhelming for them to try and respond to each message.

Let’s keep praying for them as Kyle continues to fight the monster that is DIPG

Hello everyone! I told Olga I would share her words with you all. She wanted to say thank you for the prayers and generosity. Below is a post from her:

Dear Friends and Family

We hope your Christmas and your New Year was wonderful.
Blue and I want to take time to thank you for your continuous prayers, for all of the notes, texts, cards, and gifts. We’re so thankful.
Your generosity is an immense help. Your prayers and well wishes keep us going and give us a boost to keep going, keep fighting and care for Kyle, Claire and each other.

Kyle has completed 10 rounds of radiation at MUSC. It was rough on him - even the strongest medicine we have doesn’t take his head aches completely away. They should ease of now that radiation is over. He had a blood draw and the numbers were good( PRASE THE LORD). Kyle is still in the medical trial in NYU. We will be heading to NY this Saturday for his appt. with Dr. Gardner. His next MRI isn’t scheduled yet.

May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14 NIV

Hi everyone! I wanted to pop in and give an update on Kyle, for Olga. Over the last few weeks things have been a little quiet as they waited for his most recent appt in NY.

A couple of weeks ago it was confirmed that the new spot seen on Kyle’s brain stem (that was found at the last MRI in November) is in fact a new tumor. It is small and at first they were not certain so they just kept an eye on it. After noticing some growth with it, it was confirmed to be a new tumor. This is what was causing his vision to be blurred again and headaches. This news, of course, is not what anyone wants to hear. So, over the last few weeks they had been patiently (and anxiously) waiting to hear what the game plan would be from this point. While waiting on drs to make decisions, Kyle was taking steroids again as well as continuing his treatments. Thankfully the steroids have helped his vision + headaches. We had been praying for a good game plan and that the Drs would bring some hope to the Glovers.

Over this past weekend they drove back to NY for a routine appointment and to hopefully find out what they would do from this point. Happy to say, Yesterday’s appointment went well. Kyles blood work all came back normal. With the exception of blood pressure being a little high and some weight gain, which is typical with steroids unfortunately. The plan from here is that Kyle will continue receiving treatment from the study in NY. (praise God! This is what we had hoped for) He will also be starting radiation again, after Christmas, to shrink the small new growth. They will be getting things set up with MUSC for that.

Overall the appointment went as well as we could have hoped! It is definitely answered prayers, as the last few weeks had been an anxious time for them as they waited to know what would be the next steps. I am so thankful they were able to get some answers, a game plan some more hope for Christmas. They are headed home from NY now and will be able to relax a little for Christmas before radiation starts.

Thank you for all of the continued prayers! As you can imagine they’ve been overwhelmed, and just trying to spend time together quietly as a family. It’s hard for them to get back to everyone, so If you want to leave messages or comments on here, Olga will see them! Please continue to pray for sweet Kyle. ❤️

Psalm 62:1-2 “My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.”
