On Sunday January 28, 2018 Kyle was taken to MUSC Children's Hospital after being sick. They discovered a golfball size tumor on the back, lower part of his brain. Since Sunday Kyle has had MRIs, an 8+ hour brain surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible, lots of drs in and out. It has been an overwhelming week for him and his family. The drs are pleased with his recovery so far. It was uncertain if he would be able to breath on his own, walk, talk etc after the surgery without long term rehabilitation. Kyle, being the strong little fighter he is, woke up from that long surgery breathing on his own, able to talk and move his arms and legs. Praise God! They are still waiting for the pathology report to give them more of a prognosis. It may take a few days. Regardless of the pathology results, Kyle will be undergoing Radiation and Chemotherapy in the future. It is a long, uncharted road ahead for them. As they figure out the plan and help Kyle get through this long journey they are so thankful for all of your prayers! Please continue to pray for Kyle and full healing.

I've been friends with Olga for the last 15 years and she is the most kind, generous, helpful person I have ever met! She's the first one to volunteer to help someone who needs it. She has a servants heart and I am proud to call her a best friend. ❤️ Coming together and helping her is the least I can do. I thought that getting some donations together to help ease any financial burden during this already difficult time, would be a good start. They will be at the hospital for a long while and traveling to also see Claire, go home for showers etc. They can use this money for gas, food and bills over the next few months as they stay by Kyle's side. The money will go directly to Olga and Blue to use as needed. I know as the amazingly helpful person she is, she isn't one that asks for help. She's used to being the doer. So I took it upon myself to get this started because I know that she would do the same for me. Finances are the last thing they need to worry about during this time. So if you're able to donate even just a dollar, that'd be great. If you can't donate, no worries! Please just continue to pray for Kyle, Claire, Olga and Blue.

I will post updates in here as I get them. If you "follow" this campaign it should email you updates as they're posted.

Kyle can't receive visitors at this time. He is in the ICU and they won't let us go up there. However if you are wanting to drop off something to help cheer him or Claire up, you can leave it with the front desk at MUSC Children's hospital. And tell them it is for Joseph (Kyle) Glover. He's in Unit 7C in room 777.

Hey everyone! Just wanted to post a quick update on Kyle. They left Saturday to head to NYC. They stopped halfway and finished the drive on sunday. Monday they had an appt with drs about starting this new treatment. They did tests and looked over the MRI. They were positive about it, but told Olga they would not know for sure if Kyle was accepted into the program until Wednesday (today).

As you can imagine the wait was not easy. They got to keep busy by exploring some of the city. They are right in Manhattan. So, today they went back in and the dr told them that there is NOT a second tumor that it must have been swelling from radiation that was seen in the MRI a couple weeks ago. And that it must have been swelling causing his vision to be blurred. Praise Jesus! She also said that his tumor is relatively small, so he has been accepted into the program! Treatment starts today and they will be there for a while, but after the first month they we will be back and forth to NYC and Home.
Please continue to pray! As he goes through treatments and praying for comfort.

I’ll keep you all posted on how these treatments are going. ❤️
Kyle was excited to see NYC

Hey everyone! I just wanted to give a quick update on Kyle. They went to Orlando for a week thanks to the Make A Wish Foundation! The stronger steroids that drs gave him before leaving helped keep him well enough. He was very tired and unable to stay at the parks for too long at a time, but he really enjoyed it! He got to do the Jedi training, went to Darth Vader’s “secret closet” to make the perfect light saber, visited Harry Potter world at universal and even went to Lego Land. They are so, so thankful to make a wish for making this trip happen! ❤️

Towards the end of the trip as they headed home Kyle was starting to feel pretty exhausted. The steroids have started to wear off some. Tomorrow he has an MRI scheduled and then they will leave for New York this weekend. On Monday they have an appt with the dr up there so they can go over things. If all goes well he will start the new treatments immediately, and they’ll stay in NY for a month.

Please continue to pray for a miracle. Praying that the new treatments with be some sort of breakthrough. Also praying for strength for Kyle as they travel to NY. Also praying for Claire is going through all of this right along side her big brother. This isn’t easy for a 7 year old.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out! I will keep you all posted. If you need to relay any messages, feel free to contact me ❤️

Hi everyone! I just wanted to let you all know that Kyle is doing well. The steroids they gave him last week have finally kicked in and are helping him to feel stronger and overall a little better. So thankful for that!

Yesterday the Make A Wish foundation put together a little wish reveal party for him at The Alley Charleston! It was a fun surprise that he certainly needed. He has been through so much in the last 3 months. Doctors, scans, brain surgery, chemo, radiation, more surgery etc. Yesterday, for a few hours he finally got to just be a kid with no worries, thanks to Carter and Nick Mello and the others with Make A Wish who put this together. He was surprised and so excited. He got to eat tater tots and ice cream and play skii ball and go bowling and just enjoy some laughs with friends and family. He was smiling often and told and thanked everyone on multiple occasions.

They had Rey (from Star Wars) and a Storm Trooper bring out his special reveal box. Inside this box was his dream come true. They are sending him to, not only Universal Studios, but also Disney World and Lego Land and any other park he wants to do while in Orlando! He and Claire will get to go to Jedi Training camp at Hollywood Studios. They have passes to cut every line. He was even told he's allowed to order ice cream at the hotel, anytime he wants. ;)

When he could hardly keep his eyes opened after all the excitement they went home, where Kyle told Olga, "It was so much fun, I could cry". :)

Thank you all for your prayers for this sweet boy. He's feeling well and strong and we are praying that continues so that he can feel great and enjoy this family vacation! They will be leaving this week, so keep them in your prayers as they travel and enjoy their trip together. Continue to pray for strength. Hidden behind the smiles is a pain that I can't even begin to imagine. Pray for them as they approach each day one at a time. We also are still praying for the New York trip to happen and that he will still be accepted into the study. Thank you all for the donations and prayers. We will keep being his prayer warriors and continue to fight for him #kylestrong #kylescrusaders

Hi everyone. Last night I had a heartbreaking conversation with Olga. This whole situation is awful no matter how you look at it, but last night it just hit a little harder. Talking to a mother, your best friend, going through something like this and knowing I can’t do anything to make it better is hard. So hard. I’m doing all that I can to just be there for her and Blue and help in any way that I can. She asked me to give an update today. This update is the hardest, for me (and her of course) so far. I’ll be honest, I have typed this up and deleted it a few times already. Typing it makes it real and she wanted me to be upfront and open about the latest updates, so I’m trying to be honest. But posting this isn’t easy because I don’t want any of it to be true. Does that make sense? But Olga wants everyone to know everything that is going on so that you can continue to pray for them and know what to pray for. Anyway, here is the latest update:

Kyle ended up back in the hospital over the weekend. He finished up chemo and radiation middle of last week. He got to ring the bell and I know he was feeling proud, just by the smile that was on his face. They got him home and looked forward to resting. The chemo and radiation had caught up to him and he had been quite sick for a couple weeks. Nausea and overall feeling terrible. Over the weekend he started to get headaches again and they admitted him to the hospital. He spiked a fever and was having trouble with his vision. They did an MRI that showed no fluid, so they were stumped as to why he was running a fever and having trouble with vision. They sent him back for a longer MRI and unfortunately discovered a new tumor. This new tumor is in the same area as the other. That is what is causing him to have problems seeing. She explained that his eyes both work individually, but they don’t work together. So he has to close one eye to be able to see.
The oncologist spoke with Olga and Blue and told them that at this point with the two aggressive tumors, they won’t be able to cure Kyle. She told them that they are looking at about 6 months and they would call in hospice to their home when the time is needed. She said that for now the plan is to get him feeling well, and strong enough, to make it to Disney World with Make A Wish. For now, the study in NY is uncertain. It depends if Kyle is well enough to get up there and if he is still accepted into the study after the latest updates.
As you can imagine this is a parents absolute worst nightmare. It isn’t fair. There is no way for me to word any of this and it sound ok. I have tried to reword it and delete and then tried again. But the truth is, there’s nothing about this that I can sugar coat or make sound better than it is. Typing these words out puts a heaviness on my heart that I can’t even explain. I can’t even begin to imagine their own pain. I wish I could take this away. I am still praying for a miracle, of course. I am also praying for strength for Olga and Blue and that they can take this one day at a time so that they can focus on the “right now” and not on the uncertain future. I am praying that they can find the right words and timing as they explain a little of what’s going on to Kyle and Claire.

At this time they are really just asking for prayer. I know that so many have reached out to her and she is so appreciative, but right now she wants a little space. To be able to find her ground, so she can be strong for her babies and her husband. If you need to pass on any words to her or Blue feel free to send me a message! (Or email ambermelliott@gmail.com) I can answer questions or relay messages. She doesn’t need to be overwhelmed with trying to respond to texts or calls right now.

For now, Kyle can’t have any visitors. He’s too sick and they really want to focus on getting him stronger for Disney. Just pray that the steroids will strengthen him enough to go on that trip! They need that trip, those memories and that time together. ❤️

I will continue to keep everyone updated as she asks me to. Thank you for the prayers and kindness. It means a lot to them.
